This exciting event kicks off at 8:00 AM, with registration and packet pickup starting at 7:00 AM at the Virginia High School entrance. As part of the beloved Virginia BBQ festival, which runs from June 5-7, participants will enjoy a festive atmosphere filled with delicious food, a lively pageant, entertaining vendors, a parade, carnival rides, and more!
The 5K course will take runners and walkers through scenic spots, including the Virginia BBQ Square, Cass County Fair Grounds, Rexroat Prairie, and Virginia Park, showcasing the beauty of this tight-knit community. The Virginia Cross Country Team, comprised of talented athletes from local schools, is excited to host this event, with proceeds supporting their journey and providing essential resources for their training. Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners in various age categories, ensuring a spirited competition. REGISTRATION AND PACKET PICKUP
Race starts at 8:00 am. The packet pick-up/registration will start at 7:00 am with the table at the Virginia High School entrance. Online registration will be closed at this time. Parking is in the Virginia School lots or parking lot or near the ball diamonds.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Redbird Run is a fun 5K run and walk hosted during the Virginia, IL BBQ. The Virginia BBQ is a small town festival with the support of a dashing community. To go along with our race, Virginia BBQ will have a pageant, vendors, parade, carnival rides, and tons of entertainment from June 5-7.
The Virginia Cross Country Team will be hosting this exciting event. The Virginia Cross Country Team consists of fifth - twelfth graders from both Virginia and Triopia schools. From August to October, the athletes participate in 25 meets around the central area. Last year, we had two Jr. High athletes (one male, one female) compete in the State Meet in Normal, IL. We also had one High School athlete compete at IHSA Sectionals. Our other athletes made huge improvements by dropping time and hitting personal bests.
The money raised from the event will go toward celebrating student success during and after the season, new uniforms, and new workout equipment.
