SNOWFLAKE THE WINTER HOURGLASS CHALLENGE RUN & RUCK EDITION

_Crevasse - Moraine Trail. Palmer, Alaska Sunday, January 11th, 2025. Hosted and aid-station-staffed by Palmer-locals Andrew & Brooke Vigorito with assistance from daughters Dossie and Soph._



It's hard to capture just how much fun this event will be!! It will an epic outing that will certainly become progressively more challenging, but every restart is with a group having all the fun with you!



Welcome to The Winter Hourglass Challenge, a crazy-fun, cold-weather challenge built for runners, ruckers, skiers and anyone who wants to get out, have fun, test pacing, and resolve in the Alaskan winter. This event is truly great for all levels of fitness and running experience.

This isnt a normal raceits awesome fun with friends in a race against time itself, that starts so slowly and easily and becomes more and more challenging! You will love the experience


HOW IT WORK -- Three Divisions:

male sign RUNNING 2-Mile Loop

* Walk/run around the loop in the time available

RUCK 1-Mile Loop

* The essence of a ruck is a backpack with weight, though this is completely optional
* If you want to bring weight, 35 lbs is recommended for men, 20 lbs for women (again, totally optional)

skier SKI -- 2-Kilometer Loop (1.2 miles)

* Cross-country ski the loop within the time period.

KIDS (15 and under) -- 1-Mile Loop.



Every athlete begins with 30 minutes to complete their loop.
After each successful lap, the hourglass drops:

stopwatch Each new round gives you 1 minute less to finish the same loop.

Round 1: 30 minutes
Round 2: 29 minutes
Round 3: 28 minutes

...
Until you time out or decide not to restart. [Maximum event length is less than 6 hours]



Your score is the number of completed laps.

The event continues until only one athlete in each division remainsor until time finally runs out on everyone.
