Join us for the 18th Annual NVRC/Herbie's Home "Town Loop" 4 Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in the picturesque town of Bellefonte, Centre County! Kicking off at 8:30 a.m. at Rogers Stadium, this spirited event not only promotes fitness and community spirit but also honors the memory of Jeremy Herbstritt, a beloved local graduate whose legacy continues to inspire. Participants will traverse a scenic, wheel-measured 4-mile course that showcases the beauty of Bellefonte, starting and finishing at the Bellefonte Area High School track.
This year, funds raised will benefit the Bellefonte Track and Field program, supporting both junior high and high school athletes through scholarships and events. As a special tribute, a portion of the proceeds will also aid the family of Nathan Dan, a local student-athlete who tragically lost his life. The NVRC/18th annual Herbie's Home Town Loop 4 mile run/walk will be held on Saturday, August 3rd beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Rogers Stadium
If you can not participate in the run/walk, we are looking for volunteers on race day.
Jeremy Herbstritt was a 1998 Bellefonte Area High School graduate who loved life and the outdoors. He, and 31 other students and professors, were killed during a mass shooting on April 16, 2007 at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Herbies Home Town Loop was created by Jeremy's family and friends in 2007 to remember and honor him, and give something back to the community who gave so much to them in their time of grief.
We started this labor of love 18 years ago to build a track in the Bellefonte area to allow our home school to practice and compete and provide a place for our community to gather and enjoy the outdoors and some exercise. Our dream was realized in 2019 when the JEREMY HERBSTRITT AND LT JONAS MARTIN PANIK US NAVY PREMIER TRACK AND FIELD FACILITY BECAME A REALITY AT ROGERS STADIUM.
Funds raised from this years event will benefit the Bellefonte Track and Field program. The Bellefonte track and field booster club sponsors the Jeremy Herbstritt Memorial T&F Invitational for junior high (7th & 8th grade). Portions of the proceeds from the invitational help support the Jeremy Herbstritt Memorial Scholarship that is presented to two Bellefonte graduating seniors on behalf of Jeremys family. This race will help boost the portion allotted to this scholarship.
In addition, a portion of this years race will also go to the family of a local Bellefonte Area High School student- athlete, Nathan Dan, lost in a swimming accident this past May. The BAHS lacrosse team will be collecting donations at the race as well to help the Dan family create a scholarship in Nates name.
All participants are encouraged to visit the BELLEFONTE ARTS & CRAFTS FAIr in downtown Bellefonte on August 2nd and 3rd. You can take a free shuttle down from the high school after the race.
COURSE: The 4-mile course is wheel measured. The run/walk begins and ends at the Bellefonte Area HS track and traverses the perimeter of the town of Bellefonte.

CLOSEDRAPID TRANSIT gift cards will be given to the overall top male and female participants. UNIQUE Awards will also be given to the top three individuals in the following male and female age groups: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and up. A special Nittany Lion statue award will go to the top 20-29 year old (corresponding with Jeremys age group at the time of his death). AMENITIES: Refreshments, time clock at finish, mile splits, entertainment, kids activities, fun family oriented event and more at the track! Herbies Hometown Loop is being held in conjunction with this years Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair in downtown Bellefonte.
