A group of people, dressed in casual sportswear, poses together cheerfully outdoors in front of a brick building. Some are raising their arms and smiling, while a dog stands on the left. The atmosphere is lively and friendly.

What is findarace.com?

You may not have heard of findarace.com. So let us introduce ourselves and tell you what we can offer Event Organizers.

That's us, above, with a few of the findarace Run Club in the summer.

We launched in the UK in 2019 with the aim of establishing a place where runners, cyclists and triathletes could keep the motivation flowing by easily finding their next challenge and where Race Organizers could reach new participants.

In the UK, we work with hundreds of Race Organizers to grow their events. Our customers are events of all sizes, from sell-out city marathons to locally run races, with an emphasis on the grassroots end of the market: events looking to increase awareness and ultimately participants by getting in front of a targeted audience of race goers.

We are also proud to be the exclusive marketplace partner to the UK division of Runner's World. One of the best-known names in running globally, we support the Runner's World audience with their event discovery.

More info on the UK version of the site can be found here.

The US

The US is our first market outside of the UK, launched in 2023. In the US, we operate as a traditional listing site, helping people discover their next challenge. For example someone will search online, refine their search on findarace and discover an event before being connected to the event website to book.

We're the fastest-growing listing site in the US, having seen traffic go from zero to 300k monthly users in 18 months and we're continuing to grow by 15% a month.

The audience

We rank at the top of Google for some of the highest volume search terms in our sector. Every month, millions of people search for running events across the US, with variations of searches like, '5k near me' or 'Half Marathon San Francisco'. We rank at the top of Google for hundreds of these generic search terms.

The 10k landing page on findarace.com

Once they are on a findarace.com landing page, the site makes it quick and easy to refine their search by various filters such as date, location or terrain and discover an event that best suits them.

Big green button

Users will end up on an event page, with an overview of the race, including date, location, map, price and distance. The focus of the page is the Book Now button, linking to the event website to find out more and hopefully book! That's the point at which we hand over to the Race Organizer, our marketing role complete.

Rising tide

By capturing the intent at the very top of the funnel, and converting it into an event booking, we aim to grow participation numbers in events across the board. The difference between being interested in doing a running event, and actually signing up can often be down to not finding the right event. Too soon, too far away, too hilly, too flat. Everyone's criteria is different and what we offer is choice. We're able to match the individual with the event. Then it's over to the Event Organizer to do what they do best: deliver an amazing race day experience.

In this way, we see our competition being not other listing sites, but other experiences: live music, football games, and any other way people choose to spend their spare time if not running, cycling or swimming.

What we are not

In the UK we operate as a marketplace, in the US as a listing site. In neither market, are we a registration platform. We work alongside the likes of Race Roster and RunSignup to capture the interest from people searching online - the '10k near me-ers' - and convert them into participants by driving them to the event's reg provider to book.

As such, we're a marketing channel, to go alongside the likes of PPC, social media, email and flyers at your local running store. Our advantages over those channels are the size and intent of our audience. Events on findarace.com are seen by millions of people actively searching for events.

Looking ahead

We're excited about the future and are looking forward to getting more people on the start line of events across the US.

In the meantime, if you have any queries or would like to know more about how we can promote your event to our growing audience, we'd love to hear from you.
