2025 Gaylord All Outdoors Tri 45 Winter Triathlon

SNOW MUCH FUN to be had in the winter.

Embrace the winter season and challenge yourself to Michigan's premier winter triathlon! This unique event, now in its 4th year, takes place at the breathtaking Treetops Resort Ski Area. Participants will conquer a thrilling course featuring cross-country skiing, fat tire biking, and a snowy trail run. Compete solo or as a relay team - either way, you're in for a snowball of fun!

***We're excited to announce the addition of a new duathlon event! The duathlon consists of a 5k run, 10k bike, and 5k run, all taking place in the snow. Check back for a map of the run course location. Please note that this duathlon is only open to individual participants at this time - we are not offering a group race option.

FAT BIKE RENTAL!! We have a bike place!! Latitude 45 in Petoskey Michigan has partnered with us to get you riding in the snow. Go to www.latitude45.com [https://www.latitude45.com] go under bike rentals, step 1 choose dates 2/27/25-3/1/25 (they will be delivering the bikes on the Thursday to treetops so you have all Friday to bike and then they will pick the bike up from you when you are done with the race). Step 2, pick your bike (they only have half a dozen, so get yours fast), Step 3-fill out online form and use code (_tri45_) for a discount (this will give you the bike for $53! a single day rental price for the 3 days! SCORE).

XC SKI RENTAL: Equipment Rental | Ski Rentals Michigan | Treetops Resort -Go to the rental page and for $20 they will give you the rental from the day before till the race is over. This does include boots, poles and skis. Note* these are rental skis, so they are not top of the line, but it is on site and you can rent them. I am working with them to try and make it so the xc ski is open at 8am, so for those who somehow forget-they might be able to still rent xc skis (pending on that).

SPRINT DISTANCE WINTER TRIATHLON: 5k Cross country Ski, 10k Fat tire bike, 5k snow Trail run.

SPRINT DISTANCE WINTER DUATHLON: 5k run / 10k bike/ 5k run all in the snow. (this race will start after the last xc skier is off the course for the tri, then you will run on the xc ski track and you will run it, bike and then run it again). -Due to low volume of this part of the race-we will not have top finisher awards-there will only be a medal for finishers.

AID STATION: At the transition area and course crossing where the cross-country and running routes intersect, we will have a selection of refreshments available, including hot Gatorade (which is quite tasty, so I recommend trying it), regular temperature Gatorade, and granola bars.

PACKET PICKUP: Friday! 2/28/25 at Treetops at 5pm-7pm (ln the main lodge at Treetops in the Juniper room) and Sunday 3/1/25 from 8am -9am at the Jones building.

TRANSITION: Open 3/1/25 8am till 930am and then it will close for everyone to come listen to what is expected on the course.

RACE START TIME is at 10am for the Tri and then the Duathlon starts after the last person from the tri comes off the xc ski path. Estimated 10:30am for Duathlon start.

AWARDS:

ALL FINISHERS GET A MEDAL!

5-year age group Male and Female awards for _TRI ONLY DUATHLON NOT INCLUDED DUE TO LOW VOLUME_ (Must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this event).

Group awards are based on who crosses first and is not dependent on gender or age of the team. You are allowed to have a mixed team (must be 18 and older to be part of a group or the event). (you will want to email [email protected] to let me know who is in the group)

Please note we have new changes coming through and we will update everyone on what amazing things we will have to offer for this race. Keep checking back for updates and changes and I will email with every new update.

WEATHER: Weather or not we have Snow, we will have this race! 2024 was not ideal and I am glad that many of you still showed how resilient triathletes can be with the run/bike/run in the cold. We had a great day and great people participating. If we have no snow, we change the XC ski to a run and everyone will do the Duathlon event of run/bike/run. We will cancel the race if the conditions become unsafe, and the police advise people to stay off the roads. We may also cancel if treetop's location chooses. If the race is canceled, we will do our best to change the time or date of the race to accommodate, a full refund will not be given (timer wants to get paid and we understand, they are a business), but we will refund as much as we can based on the cost of the race and our sponsor donations.
