It may be cold, but that's part of the fun! There's nothing like the thrill of running through crisp winter air, surrounded by fellow runners, with the finish line in sight. Whether you're a seasoned runner or joining for the first time, the Betsie Bay Frozen 5K is the perfect way to embrace winter and get moving.
Known for its frosty conditions and gusts off Lake Michigan-making it's true test for "crazy" winter adventurers. Despite the chilly weathers, the race is a fun and community driven event that welcomes participants of all ages and paces. Packet pick up takes place at the American Legion in Frankfort on Friday, February 13 from 4PM until 6PM and again on race day from 8:30AM until 9:30AM. Busing to the start will be provided by Frankfort Area Schools and Benzie Bus. Buses will run from 9:10AM until 9:40AM to ensure enough time to get everyone to the start line. Participants can be dropped off at the start, using the parking lot of Furnace Street Distillery. Vehicles will not be allowed to drive to the overlook on race morning due to start line staging.
Bag drop will be available at the Legion on race morning.
Donated gifts from our community partners will randomly be given away to registered participants on race day.

CLOSEDPacket Pick-Up Details: Packet pick-up will be available on Friday, February 13 at the American Legion (206 Main St. Frankfort) from 4:00PM until 6:00PM, and again on race morning starting at 8:30AM. Packet pick-up will conclude at 9:30AM on race day, when the buses depart to the start. You will be allowed to pick up packets for friends and family. Bag drop will be available on race morning for participants inside the American Legion. Parking and Busing: Parking will be available along Main Street and Second Street in Frankfort. You may also park near the start in the Furnace Street Distillery parking lot. We would appreciate you avoiding parking at the Elberta lookout to allow room for the buses to turn around and runners to stage for the start of the race. Busing is being provided by Benzie Bus and Frankfort Public Schools. Buses will arrive at 9:10AM at the American Legion and depart for the start at 9:40AM. The race steps off at 10:00AM. WEATHER! We have had a wonderful showing of snow over the season. The City of Frankfort is planning to sand portions of the course, but mother nature can change that quickly. Please be prepared for the conditions. We want you to have fun, be safe and take pride that you are out there pounding the pavement. Post Race: Post race awards will be available at the American Legion after the race. There will not be a formal awards ceremony. StormCloud is opening early (11:00AM) and providing $2 off draft coupons to those who would like to enjoy a post-race beverage. Thank you for your support of Bay Area Youth Initiative.
