Weather Policy:

_Rain or Shine Event_

_The 5K will take place rain or shine. Participants should plan accordingly and be prepared for changing_

_weather conditions._

_The safety of our participants, volunteers, staff, and spectators is our highest priority. If thunderstorms,_

_lightning, high winds, extreme temperatures, or other severe weather conditions create an unsafe_

_environment, event organizers will monitor conditions and determine the safest course of action._

_Lightning Policy 60-30 Rule_

_The event will follow the 60-30 Rule for lightning safety._

_If lightning is observed and thunder is heard within 60 seconds, the event will be considered at risk for_

_lightning activity. At that time, event organizers will delay or suspend the event, and participants,_

_volunteers, staff, and spectators may be directed to seek shelter in the parking deck off of 8th Street or_

_another designated safe location._

_The event will remain delayed or suspended until at least 30 minutes have passed since thunder was_

_last heard. If additional lightning and thunder are observed during the waiting period, the 30-minute_

_period will restart._

_Event organizers will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the delay and will determine_

_whether it is safe to resume the event. If severe weather conditions persist or conditions are determined to_

_be unsafe, the event may be postponed or canceled._

_Severe Weather Procedures_

_Depending on the severity and timing of the weather, organizers may:_

_Continue the event as scheduled if conditions are determined to be safe._

_Temporarily delay or suspend the start of the event until conditions improve._

_Direct participants, volunteers, and spectators to seek shelter in the parking deck off of 8th_

_Street or another designated safe location._

_Postpone the event for a specified period while weather conditions are monitored._

_Cancel the event if conditions are determined to be unsafe or are not expected to improve within a_

_reasonable timeframe._

_Participants should follow all instructions from event organizers, staff, volunteers, and public safety_

_personnel. Participants should not remain on the course during an active lightning or severe weather_

_threat._

_Weather-related decisions will be made by event organizers in consultation with appropriate public safety_

_personnel and weather information and forecasts. Decisions will be communicated as quickly as possible_

_through event staff, public announcements, and the event's official communication channels._

_There will be no refunds due to weather-related delays, postponements, or cancellations. By_

_registering for the event, participants acknowledge and agree to this weather policy and understand that_

_weather conditions may require changes to the event schedule or format for safety reasons._
