This inspiring 5k memorial race honors Roxanne Pickrell, affectionately known as "Foxy Roxie," who bravely battled brain cancer before her passing in 2019. The event not only celebrates her memory but also supports a noble cause through the Roxanne Pickrell Memorial Fund, which aims to benefit local non-profits.
This year's race will kick off at the beautiful Smother's Park Overlook Stage and take you along the vibrant Frederica Street. In addition to the 5k, participants can enjoy a family-friendly 1 mile race and a fun-filled Kid's Dash, making it a perfect outing for all ages! Organiser's Description
Come join the fun! This is the 4th Run for Foxy Roxie 5k. It's a memorial race for Roxanne Pickrell ("Foxy Roxie"), the late daughter of Jason and Cathy Pickrell. Roxie passed in 2019 after a brief battle with brain cancer. This race is a way to honor her memory and give back to our community through her non-profit, the Roxanne Pickrell Memorial Fund. Our mission is to #supportacause. We fundraise to donate to our LOCAL non-profits!
Proceeds from this year's 5k will support the Owensboro Fire Department, Hose Handlers in the upcoming Puzzle Pieces Lip Sync Battle.
It's a fun event with cool t-shirts and awards! This year we will be in a new location. It will start and finish in Downtown Owensboro at Smother's Park Overlook Stage. A part of the race will take you down Frederica Street. We have also added a 1 mile race and a Kid's Dash!
