Get ready for an exciting day of community spirit and friendly competition at the 22nd Annual SGT Nutter 5K Run, taking place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the beautiful Sea Girt, Monmouth. This vibrant event invites participants to either walk or run the 5K course, with check-in starting at 8:00 AM for all eager racers. The atmosphere will be electric as everyone gathers for the introductory ceremony at 9:10 AM, leading up to the official race start at 9:30 AM. This year, the event will honor Specialist Gregory Mitchell of Bravo Troop in the 102nd Cavalry Unit, who is the beneficiary of the race, and all proceeds will support his recovery after a serious accident.
In addition to the main race, young athletes can shine in the Kids Race at 10:30 AM, featuring a 200-meter run for ages 6 to 9 and a half-mile run for ages 10 to 13. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual run option ensures that everyone can participate and contribute to this meaningful cause. ON SATURDAY, JUNE 20, 2026, Class 69 of the New Jersey Army National Guard Officer Candidate School (NJOCS) in Sea Girt, NJ will host the 22nd Annual Sergeant Nutter 5K Run.
CHECK-IN BEGINS AT 8:00 AM, where participants can pick up their shirts, bibs and chips. COME EARLY TO HYDRATE AND WARM-UP! WE HAVE AN ALLIANCE ORTHOPEDIC PT TENT TO ASSIST RUNNERS IN STRETCHING! PLENTY OF PARKING ON PREMISES; BRING ID TO ENTER BASE. THERE WILL BE SIGNAGE TO IDENTIFY STARTING LINE ON CAMP DRIVE!
The INTRODUCTORY CEREMONY WILL START AT 9:10 AM, followed by the OFFICIAL RACE START AT 9:30 AM.

This event is organized by the SGT Sam Nutter Organization Inc (SSNO) in memory of the late SGT Samuel Nutter, to benefit the family of a NJ National Guard service member. We are asking for your help in aiding our Soldiers and their families in their time of need. THIS YEAR'S BENEFICIARY WILL BE SPECIALIST GREGORY MITCHELL, WHO WAS INVOLVED IN A SEVERE CAR ACCIDENT IN AUGUST OF 2025 THAT RESULTED IN MULTIPLE BRAIN BLEEDS AND A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY (TBI). ALL PROCEEDS, SPONSORSHIPS, AND DONATIONS WILL DIRECTLY SUPPORT HIS CONTINUED RECOVERY.
The 5K race will take place at the Army National Guard Training Center in Sea Girt, New Jersey. This year we are adding Youth run/walk 200 meter for kids ages 6 to 9 and 1/2 mile (800 meters) for ages 10 to 13. We will also be hosting a virtual run to allow all who wish to participate the opportunity to do so! On behalf of the Sergeant Samuel Nutter Organization, WE ENCOURAGE YOUR SUPPORT AND THANK YOU FOR BEING AN INVALUABLE PART OF THIS CAUSE. YOU CAN SUPPORT THIS CAUSE BY RUNNING IN THE RACE, DONATING, OR BECOMING AN EVENT SPONSOR. Whichever you choose to do, know that you will be honoring the legacy of SGT Nutter during this year's 22nd annual 5K run.
