This heartfelt event commemorates the heroes of September 11, 2001, with a challenging stair climb that replicates the 1,980 steps of the Twin Towers. Participants will tackle a grueling course of 120 stairs, completing a total of 17 laps while dropping a penny for each lap finished. The event also welcomes those who prefer a more leisurely pace with a non-timed 1-mile walk, allowing everyone to honor the memory of our first responders.
The event kicks off with registration from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by the stair climb and walk starting at 6:15 PM, after a touching National Anthem tribute. Each participant will have the opportunity to climb in memory of a fallen firefighter or police officer, fostering a deep connection to the cause. With registration costs at $25 through September 10th and special rates for children and first responders, this event promises to be both affordable and meaningful. STAIR CLIMB: THERE WERE 1,980 STEPS IN THE TOWERS THAT FELL ON 9/11. THAT'S 17 TIMES UP & DOWN 120 STAIRS IN THE LAKE CO. FAIRGROUNDS GRANDSTAND. YOU WILL BE GIVEN 17 PENNIES, DROPPING OFF 1 AFTER EACH LAP COMPLETED. WHEN YOUR PENNIES ARE GONE, YOU ARE FINISHED! ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?
-- COST: $25 THRU 9/10. KIDS 3-12 ARE $15, UNDER 3 ARE FREE. INCLUDES MEDAL. SHIRTS EXTRA $16 THRU 9/1.

EVENT SUPPORTS: RAISING MONEY FOR LOCAL POLICE & FIRE AND FRIST RESPONDERS TO PROVIDE THEM WITH NECESSARY EQUIPMENT THAT THE CITY MAY NOT BUDGET FOR BUT WILL HELP THEM IN DOING THEIR JOB - KEEPING IT SAFE FOR THEM WHILE THEY PROTECT OUR COMMUNITY!
