This uplifting event kicks off at 7:30 AM and aims to support pediatric cancer research while honoring the spirit of Optimistic Om. Participants can choose between a timed 5K run or a more leisurely 1 mile walk, making it an inclusive event for all fitness levels and ages.
Experience a day filled with positivity and community spirit, with registration and bib distribution taking place just days before the event. The 5K run starts at 9:45 AM, featuring various awards for top finishers in different age categories, while all participants under 10 will receive a special medal. * Please present registration confirmation email on your phone for faster pickup. If you are picking up t-shirts/ bibs for other participants please have them forward their pickup emails to you to help with the pickup.
* If you are unable to pick up your t-shirt/bib on Thu/ Fri, you can pick them up on the day of the event from "Bibs & T-shirt Pickup" desk near the information desk.
* If you are on a team, please check with your team leader if he/she will be picking up your teams t-shirts/bibs.
* Our bibs have a RFID tag which helps with race timing. Hence, only the 5K runners will be given a bib, 1 mile walk is not timed.
PARKING INFORMATION
* Thompson Park entrances will be open for cars from 7:30am to 8:30am for the participants. NOTE: THOMPSON PARK ENTRANCES WILL BE CLOSED FOR CARS FROM 8:30AM TO 10:30AM (SEE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW IF YOU ARRIVE AFTER 8:30AM OR NEED TO LEAVE BEFORE 10:30AM).
* There will be rangers at the park entrances from Jamesburg (Forsgate Dr) and Perrineville Rd; they will guide you to the parking lot in Thompson Park.
* THE GATES WILL RE-OPEN FOR EXIT FROM THE PARK ONLY AFTER THE 5K RUN HAS COMPLETED, AROUND 10:30 AM.
* If you arrive after 8:30am when the park entrance is closed for cars or if you need to leave before 10:30am, please park in the Fir Dr parking lots off of Perrineville Rd (near Soccer fields) or in Jamesburg (Railroad Ave area). It is a short walk from those parking lots/ areas to the event area near the Gazebo/ Zoo in Thompson Park.
* Please do NOT park in the High School parking lot.
* PLEASE BRING YOUR LAWN CHAIRS & BLANKETS.
