Races will take place in several heats, tailored to different age groups with race distances designed to challenge and excite. Young athletes in grades K-2 will race a distance of 1/2 mile, while those in grades 3-5 will tackle a 1-mile course. For the older participants in grades 6-8, a 1.5-mile race awaits. This event not only serves as a fantastic introduction to cross country for newcomers but also as a valuable conditioning opportunity for more experienced athletes. Plus, it's all free! WHAT: Ancient City Road Runners Youth Cross Country Race Series
This registration is for Race 1 of 2
WHO: Boys and girls in grades K-8 who attend public & private schools, homeschools, and charter schools in the 32033, 32080, 32084, 32086, & 32145 zip codes are eligible to participate. All skill levels are welcome.
WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 6 starting at 8 am
We will have several heats based on the number of runners by age groups (see distances below). We will communicate the likely schedule a week or two before race day.
WHERE: Treaty Park, 1595 Wildwood Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32086
The cross country course will start and finish on the large multi-purpose field and loop around the softball fields and pickleball courts.
WHY: These fun races are an introduction to the sport of cross country for new runners; conditioning for skilled athletes; and the foundation for the Inaugural K-8 Cross Country and Track & Field Seasons that start in 2026.
DISTANCES:
* Grades K-2 races will be 1/2 mile
* Grades 3-5 races will be 1 mile
* Grades 6-8 races will be 1.5 miles.
COST: FREE!
Donations are welcome and will be used to build ACRR Youth Running Programs, including timing machine and other equipment and supplies as well as Summer Run Camp.
