The day kicks off at 7:30 AM with packet pick-up and registration, followed by the 5K run and 1-mile walk starting at 9:00 AM. The fun continues with a Kids Dash for little ones aged 5 and under at 9:30 AM. This free event encourages donations to support ongoing efforts to bring justice for Amy and ensure her memory lives on in the hearts of many. As a special incentive, those who fundraise $50 will receive a long sleeve T-shirt, and early registrants will be awarded an Amy Memorial Medal. OUR 2026 RUN AND WALKS HAVE NO FEE
HISTORY: Amy was an energetic girl that loved staying active riding horses, riding her bike with friends, or playing in the neighborhood. This race celebrates Amy's enthusiasm, zest for life, and love for people. The Amy Mihaljevic Memorial Run & Walk started out as Walk for Amy during the 2020 COVID year. However, as interest in the annual event grew, the Mihaljevic family wanted to expand the event to include a 5K race. This event celebrates Amy's enthusiasm, zest for life, and love for people. As you walk or run, channel Amys inner child who loved life.
DONATIONS & FUNDING: Our chip-timed 5k run and 1 mile walk is free for all to attend. We encourage participants and spectators to donate and/or fundraise what they can. Your financial contribution to this event either as a runner / walker or donor, will directly impact the investigation's ability to bring justice to Amy's killer and renews hope for the Mihaljevic family that Amy is Never Forgotten by the community at large.
The Amy Fund was established as a budget line-item to help fray the costs for the ongoing investigation. The fund allows the police department to tap into funds without the wait time that occurs before receiving grant money. One DNA test alone costs thousands of dollars. The money that is raised will be used in all testing methods available for Amy. The police department also receives funds for the investigation through the fiscal year budget, various outside agencies, and grant money.
