This uplifting event not only promotes fitness and community engagement but also honors the memory of Sarah and Kayla Anderson, who were tragically lost in 2022. Proceeds from the race support the Kayla Anderson Scholarship Fund, providing vital scholarships to graduating seniors at Vandalia Butler High School.
Participants can look forward to a fun-filled morning with the 5K starting at 9 AM, followed by awards at 10 AM. Registration opens at 7:30 AM at the Vandalia Rec Center, located at 1111 Stonequarry Rd, Dayton, OH 45414. Enjoy refreshments like water and granola bars, and get a chance to win exciting door prizes! Secure your spot before September 16 to guarantee your event shirt. JOIN US FOR THE THIRD ANNUAL ANDERSON 5K RUN/WALK!
This event was created to raise money for the Kayla Anderson Scholarship Fund that provides scholarship awards to graduating Vandalia Butler High School seniors.
Sarah and Kayla Anderson, along with two other neighbors, were tragically and senselessly killed in their Butler Township homes on 8/5/22. This event rocked the entire community. Shortly after, support came in from all over the city and surrounding communities and the Kayla Anderson Scholarship Fund was created. The family hopes to see this scholarship fund bless many students for many years to come and also honor Sarah and Kaylas lives, leaving a legacy of loving others well and living their lives to the fullest.
