Join us for the inaugural B.I.R.R. Mauna Loa Access Road Fun Run on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, in the stunning Volcano, Hawaii! This exciting event invites runners and walkers of all levels to experience the breathtaking beauty of the Big Island as they traverse the paved road through the enchanting Koa forest. Starting at approximately 4,000 feet elevation, participants will have four hours to enjoy the scenic route, with the option to run or walk as far as they choose—tackle the full 10-mile ascent or enjoy a shorter distance.
With aid stations along the way and tasty snacks waiting at the finish line, this fun run promises an unforgettable day in nature. Registration opens on race day from 6:30 to 6:50 AM, and best of all, it's free for B.I.R.R. members, with a $10 donation for non-members. Don’t miss this chance to challenge yourself while soaking in the breathtaking views of Mauna Loa!

START AT ABOUT 4000 FOOT ELEVATION AT THE PARKING LOT FOR BIRD PARK PARTICIPANTS WILL RUN OR WALK UP PAVED ROAD THROUGH BEAUTIFUL KOA FOREST TO THE TOP.. OR NOT! GO AS FAR AS YOU LIKE YOUR CHOICE. JUST GET IT DONE IN 4 HOURS
STARTING POINT TO TOP IS APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES, SO 20 MILES ROUND TRIP IF YOURE AMBITIOUS.
BIG ISLAND ROAD RUNNERS WILL HAVE A FEW AID STATIONS SET UP ALONG THE ROUTE AND SNACKS AT THE BOTTOM FOR WHEN YOU FINISH.
THERE WILL BE SIGN UP DAY OF RACE BETWEEN 6:30 TO 6:50.
