Join us for the exciting Brooklyn Waldorf School Scootathon on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, in the vibrant neighborhood of Brooklyn, Kings. This cherished tradition, which has been delighting families since 2009, is all about fun, community, and raising funds for the beloved Waldorf school.
Participants can choose between two engaging loops: "The Big Loop," a scenic 3/4 mile route that winds through the main park drive and offers a thrilling experience for adults and students in 5th grade and above. Whether you're scooting, skateboarding, biking, or running, everyone is encouraged to join in the fun and enjoy the cheers from supporters along the path. For our youngest participants, "The Mini Loop" provides a safe and delightful paved path around the Nethermead, specially reserved for small children and students up to 4th grade. Scooting is the preferred mode of transport here, and no sign-up is required for the little ones. Come be part of this wonderful event that celebrates education, community spirit, and the joy of movement!

Organiser's Description
Scootathon has been a beloved Brooklyn Waldorf tradition since 2009, when it was founded by a group of parents as a fundraiser for the new little school bringing Waldorf education to Brooklyn. IT IS NOT ACTUALLY A RACE, it is a challenge you will make yourself and ask your sponsors to support, on behalf of BWS.
We're all in this together to have fun and raise money for our wonderful school, where we believe in educating the whole person - "hands, hearts and heads".
"THE BIG LOOP" is 3/4 of the main park drive, with a section that passes directly past the Nethermead area, allowing for cheering our riders as they pass.
ADULTS and STUDENTS 5TH GRADE AND ABOVE are encouraged to scoot the Big Loop! Skateboarding, biking, running are also allowed. We salute however you ride the loop! (Only adults are asked to "sign up", BWS students can just ride)

Sign up to ride The Big Loop at Prospect Park for the 16th Annual BWS Scootathon! PLEASE NOTE: Children do not need to register to participate. Need to borrow a scooter for your ride? We can arrange that! Email [email protected] with "borrow a scooter" in the subject line. Not all private schools in NYC have the same resources; over 60% of our families receive financial aid, and tuition revenue only covers 70% of our operating expenses. We depend on fundraising to help us cover those costs. Your fundraising ride is very meaningful! Once you sign up with the button below, you will be prompted to make the first donation to your own fundraising here. We appreciate you getting the ball rolling with your donation! But it is not mandatory if you would like to leave that $0 Please take the time to make your fundraising page your own, with your photos, personal message etc. It makes a difference.
