Organiser's Description
Clove Hitch Beer Mile Presented By Fleet Feet Jacksonville --- The opener to Oktoberfest weekend at Clove Hitch
Willkommen, brave runners. Your lederhosen and dirndls better be laced tight.
As the taps crack open and the oompah band warms up, there is only one way to properly usher in Oktoberfest weekend by earning your stein. The Beer Mile is not merely a race. It is a rite of passage. A test of lung, leg, and liver. A celebration of everything glorious about autumn, Oktoberfest, and questionable life decisions made among good friends.
The rules are simple. The execution is not.
Four beers. Four laps. One mile. Chug before you run. No exceptions, no shortcuts.
Competitors will line up at the starting line and on the sound of the horn the madness begins. Grab your 12oz beer (or chocolate milk) drink your beverage before setting foot on the course. Run your lap. Return. Repeat. Four times. The first runner to cross the finish line with four laps and four clean, fully-consumed beers wins eternal bragging rights, a coveted finisher stein, and the right to spend the rest of Oktoberfest weekend telling everyone exactly what they accomplished.
Costumes are not required but strongly encourage. Dirndls, lederhosen, giant foam pretzels dress the part and the crowd will carry you home.
This is where Oktoberfest weekend begins. Not at the first pint poured on Saturday, but on the course, among these people, chasing something ridiculous together.
Prost!
