Each participant will receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal for the 5K, with special prizes for the top male and female finishers.
This year, we are excited to host a team t-shirt contest, where you can showcase your creativity and team spirit! Drop off your t-shirt design at the main stage for a chance to win a special prize, judged by the amazing Sam Newton. Gather your friends and family to form the largest team and compete for bragging rights, while also aiming for the top fundraiser award. The Star Walk will honor autistic individuals, allowing them to bask in the cheers of the crowd. WE WILL BE HAVING A TEAM T-SHIRT CONTEST. CREATE A T-SHIRT DESIGN IN HONOR OF YOUR TEAM! YOU CAN DROP OFF A T-SHIRT AT THE MAIN STAGE OR COME TO THE STAGE AT 11:30AM TO BE JUDGED BY THE BEST EMCEE THERE IS SAM NEWTON. WE WILL HAVE A SPECIAL PRIZE FOR THE WINNER!
WE ALSO WILL HAVE PRIZES FOR TOP FUNDRAISER AND LARGEST TEAM! GATHER YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS!

HISTORY OF THE EVENT:
Ellen was a wonderful Occupational Therapist, teacher, friend, inspiration, and driving force to many in the field of autism. She had a magical way with autistic individuals and their families. Ellen had served the New Mexico Autism Societys Board of Directors as President, Treasurer, and workhorse for many years. She also helped many children, teachers, and therapists as a member of the APS Autism Resource Team. We lost Ellen to cancer in 2009, but her spirit will remain with all who knew her.
Because of Ellen and her dedication to the autism community, New Mexico Autism Society decided to honor her memory with this race. Each year, the New Mexico autism community gathers at Balloon Fiesta Park to help raise acceptance, to educate, and celebrate our autistic community and their families. The race is our biggest fundraiser of the year and helps fund all the programs and events we host.

The Star Walk is our time to honor those we are running and walking for! Open to any Autistic individual. Walk a short aisle as the crowd cheers you on just for being you!
