Kick off the New Year with a fun and invigorating challenge at the ERC New Year's Day 5 Mile Race and 5K on Wednesday, January 1, 2025! Set against the picturesque backdrop of Presque Isle in Erie, this exciting event invites runners of all levels to participate in a scenic course that runs entirely on the park's roadways. Whether you’re tackling the 5-mile distance or opting for the 5K fun run, there’s something for everyone.
Pre-registered runners can pick up their race packets starting at 8:45 a.m. in the Rotary Pavilion near Beach #7, and those who sign up by December 29, 2023, will ensure that adequate refreshments are available for all participants. With awards for top finishers in various age categories and overall prizes for the best male and female competitors in the 5-mile run, there’s plenty of motivation to lace up your running shoes! Walkers are also welcome, making this a perfect opportunity to start your year with health and happiness. Don’t miss out on this fantastic event—join us for a day of fun, fitness, and community spirit!

Organiser's Description
REGISTRATION: Online registration at run sign up will be open until the start of the race. Please sign up before you leave home since service can be spotty at the park. The packet pickup for pre-registered runners will begin at 8:45 a.m. in the Rotary Pavilion near the Waterworks area (Beach #7) at Presque Isle. The course starts and ends in front of the Rotary Pavilion. The race will be run entirely on the roadways of the park.
In addition to our normal First Day 5 miler we are adding a 5K fun run, this will be timed but there will be no awards.
RACE PREMIUM:
YOU ARE URGED to pre-register by December 29, 2023 to assist us in having sufficient refreshments for all participants on race day.
AWARDS: Overall awards in the 5-mile run to the top male and female, the first masters (age 40 & over) male and female, and to the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups: 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, then in five-year increments from 20-24 to 80 & over. Walkers are welcome.
NOTE: The race will take place as scheduled regardless of the weather, with one exception: the race may be postponed or cancelled altogether if Presque Isle State Park is closed by park authorities for any reason. Since this is always a possibility, please follow us on Facebook or check the ERC calendar for any updates.
