Get ready to celebrate Independence Day in style at the 21st Annual Firecracker 4K on Saturday, July 4th, 2026, at University Park, Centre! This exciting run/walk event kicks off the Central PA 4thFest, bringing together the community to honor our nation's birthday. Starting near Beaver Stadium on the beautiful Penn State main campus, participants of all ages are encouraged to don their most patriotic apparel and join in the festivities. With a race distance of 4 kilometers, this fun-filled event saw an incredible turnout of 776 participants last year, and this year promises to be even better!
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on race day, with the race starting promptly at 9 a.m. Participants can look forward to a professionally timed race, post-race refreshments, and a vibrant atmosphere filled with camaraderie and celebration. To ensure a memorable experience, all registrants who sign up early will receive a stylish Firecracker 4K race t-shirt. Plus, with awards for the top finishers in various age categories, everyone has a chance to shine! After the race, stick around for a full day of 4thFest activities, culminating in one of the nation’s top fireworks
