Get ready to kick off August with a bang at the Fresh Legs XC Open & Fun Run on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Lubbock! This exciting cross country event will take place at the renowned LCU Cross Country course, a venue celebrated for hosting prestigious competitions like the Big 12 Championship and NCAA regionals. Participants can choose from three thrilling race distances: a traditional 3-mile cross country race open to all ages, an open 1-mile race for everyone, and a special 1-mile race exclusively for kids aged 11 and under.

All proceeds from this event will support the Lubbock Area Elementary Running program, ensuring that kids can continue to experience the joy of running through free events throughout the school year. Organiser's Description
What better way to welcome August than with a summer sendoff cross country event! This will be hosted at the incredible LCU Cross Country course, the same course where the Big 12 Championship and NCAA regionals have been run! There will be 3 races offered. There will be a traditional cross country 3 mile open to all ages, an open 1 mile for all ages, and a 1 mile that is only for kids age 11 and under. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go towards our Lubbock Area Elementary Running program.

This event will have medals for the top 3 overall male and female runners, as well as top 3 age group awards (somewhat traditional age groups). **Must be at least 12 years old for the 3 mile. Age groups: 12-14 (MS) 15-19 (HS) 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 60-69 70+ -
1 Mile OPEN (All Ages)

This event will have medals for top 3 overall male and female runners as well as age group awards (7 & under, 8-9, 10-11). **No adults in this race!! This will be a competitive kids race. Don't put kids in this race who can't do the course on their own.
