Event summary
Get ready for an exciting weekend of trail running at the 19th Annual Hobo Trail Runs, taking place from September 12 to September 14, 2025, in the scenic Rock Cut State Park located in Machesney Park, Winnebago. This thrilling event features a variety of race distances to suit every level of runner, including a unique evening 10K on Friday night starting at 7:00 PM. As the sun sets, participants will navigate the trails equipped with headlamps and flashlights, making for an unforgettable night run!
On Saturday, the adventure continues with a 25K race at 8:00 AM, followed by the grand finale, the 50K race, on Sunday morning also starting at 8:00 AM. Runners have the opportunity to challenge themselves with the Triple Crown option, completing all three races for a total of 85K, or the "Lite" version, which covers 60K. Each finisher in the Triple Crown will earn a special Hobo Railroad Spike Award, along with additional swag for the ultimate achievement. Choose to do a single events or pick the challenging TRIPLE CROWN ALL THREE RACES 85K or the TRIPLE CROWN "LITE" 60K with the 10k on Friday evening then a 25k Sat. & Sun. FRIDAY NITE'S 10K IS AN EVENING TRAIL RACE. Bring running lights, headlamps, flashlights, etc. Trail will be marked with signage, glow sticks. and reflective markers. This is a trail race in the dark the park closes at 10:00 pm all runners must be finished by 9:30 in order to leave park before closing. Note we did say that the 10k is a trail race run in the dark on trails be sure you have practiced running on trails in the dark so you know what you are setting out to do.
10K will start near the boat launch in Rock Cut State Park, FRIDAY SEPT. 12, - 7:00PM START - RUNNERS must be finished by 9:30 in order to be out of the park by 10:00 - gates are locked.
25K will start and finish at Red Oak picnic area, SATURDAY SEPT. 13, - 8:00AM START - _COURSE IS SUPPORTED FOR 5 HOURS_ on Saturday. _DOING YOUR FIRST 25K? THE COURSE ON SUNDAY IS SUPPORTED FOR 8 HOURS ._
