Get ready for a fantastic day of fun and fitness at the 9th annual Jamaco River Run on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Merrimac, Essex! This exciting event features a USATF certified 5K road race, perfect for runners and walkers of all levels, as well as a Kids Fun Run to engage the little ones. The festivities kick off at Waterhouse Field, with registration and bib pickup starting at 8 AM. The Kids Fun Run takes place at 9 AM, followed by the main 5K race at 10 AM.
Join us for a vibrant post-race celebration that includes live music, delicious burgers and hot dogs, and a craft beer tent for those 21 and older. The first 200 registrants will receive a custom commemorative t-shirt, a swag bag, and a complimentary beer! This year, we're thrilled to partner with Sweet Paws Rescue, a dedicated local non-profit committed to rescuing animals in need. Together, we aim to make this year’s event a memorable one for the community while supporting a worthy cause. Organiser's Description
The 9th annual Jamaco River Run and Post-Race celebration will be held once again on Saturday, June 21, 2025. This is a fun, family-friendly day complete with a Kid's Fun Run, a USATF certified & sanctioned 5K road race, and a post-race event with live music, a craft beer tent, burgers and dogs, activities for the kids, award ceremony and an amazing prize raffle. Registration & Bib Pickup will begin at 8am at Waterhouse Field (74 E. Main St, Merrimac, MA). Free parking is available on site. The Kids Fun Run kicks off at 9am followed by the 5K walk/run at 10am. The first 200 registrants receive a custom commemorative t-shirt, a swag bag, and a free beer (21+).
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Sweet Paws Rescue for this year's race!
Sweet Paws Rescue (SPR) is a local non-profit animal rescue based in Groveland. They are a grassroots, boots-on-the-ground, shelterless, foster-based organization, primarily working within two of the poorest counties in Mississippi and Alabama. Since 2011, they have rescued close to 22,000 puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats that would not have a chance at life otherwise and also serve as a New England resource for the abandoned and displaced, as well as animals seized in cruelty cases within our home state. As a volunteer-powered organization, Sweet Paws rescue and home as many animals as other larger local brick-and-mortar organizations that have paid staff and endowments. In addition to providing the love, food, and basic veterinary care the animals need to thrive, they are providing Heartworm treatment to many adult dogs, and sometimes even life-sustaining surgeries and emergency care. The adoption fees paid to SPR only offset the costs associated with each life they save.
It is our hope that this partnership will make 2025 our best year yet and we once again look forward to giving back to our local community!
