This exciting event features a scenic half marathon starting at 7:30 AM and a vibrant 5K starting at 7:50 AM, both commencing and concluding at the historic Sam Lynn Ballpark.
The half marathon course promises an unforgettable experience, taking runners along the picturesque Kern River Trail and through the stunning Panorama Vista Preserve. With a mix of paved and dirt trails, challenging climbs, and breathtaking views, participants will enjoy every step of the journey. Meanwhile, the 5K offers a delightful out-and-back route on the paved Kern River Trail, perfect for all skill levels.
What sets this event apart is the vibrant atmosphere, complete with plenty of aid stations, a DJ pumping up the energy, and even a post-race beer garden for participants 21 and older! Plus, the first 500 registrants will receive custom race arm sleeves and enjoy a free hot breakfast and refreshing fruit bars. THE JUDGMENT DAY HALF MARATHON IS THE FINAL RACE, IN THE RUN THE VALLEY HALF MARATHON SERIES.
HALF MARATHON COURSE DESCRIPTION:
THIS IS A VERY SCENIC COURSE. IT WILL START & FINISH AT THE HISTORIC SAM LYNN BALLPARK. YOU WILL RUN OUT THE BACK GATE TO THE PAVED KERN RIVER TRAIL (EAST) INTO THE PANORAMA VISTA PRESERVE (DIRT TRAILS) FOR A 3.5 MILE LOOP, AND THEN BACK ONTO THE KERN RIVER TRAIL TO CHINA GRADE ROAD. RUNNERS WILL TURN RIGHT ONTO THE ALFRED HARRELL HWY/CHINA GRADE LOOP (CLOSED ROAD) - YES THAT'S A CHALLENGING 1 MILE CLIMB UP TO THE PANORAMA BLUFFS, BUT EVERYONE LOVES IT, AND JUDGMENT DAY WOULDN'T BE THE SAME WITHOUT IT! ONCE AT THE TOP, YOU WILL CONTINUE THROUGH PANORAMA PARK ALONG THE BLUFFS WITH AWESOME VISTA VIEWS, BEFORE SWEEPING BACK DOWN TO THE PAVED RUNNING TRAIL ALONG THE KERN RIVER, AND FINISHING BACK INSIDE THE BALLPARK.
