Join us for the exciting annual Ladrigan Swim Races on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Bayley Beach in beautiful Norwalk, Western Connecticut! Celebrate the end of summer with a thrilling day of swimming and family fun. The event kicks off with the Lighthouse Race, a challenging one-mile swim from Greens Ledge Lighthouse to shore, starting at 10:30 AM. Swimmers and their kayak escorts can check in beginning at 8:30 AM, followed by shuttle boats taking participants to the lighthouse for a refreshing view of recent renovations and light refreshments.
At the same time, competitors can dive into the Buoy Race, which takes swimmers from the buoy back to the beach. Kids won’t be left out either, as there will be non-timed Children's Swim Races organized by age right along the shore. After the races, everyone is invited to enjoy traditional beach games, including tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest, and an egg toss! Don’t miss out on this fantastic summer celebration filled with excitement and community spirit!
At the same time, competitors can dive into the Buoy Race, which takes swimmers from the buoy back to the beach. Kids won’t be left out either, as there will be non-timed Children's Swim Races organized by age right along the shore. After the races, everyone is invited to enjoy traditional beach games, including tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest, and an egg toss! Organiser's Description
Celebrate the end of the summer with the annual Arthur J. Ladrigan Swim Races and Family Fun Day at Bayley Beach. Well start the swim races with the Lighthouse Race (a one-mile swim from Greens Ledge Lighthouse to shore). Check-in for Lighthouse Race swimmers and their kayak escorts will start at 8:30 AM. At 9 AM shuttle boats will begin taking swimmers to the light, where they can view the amazing renovations done over the last five years, and enjoy light refreshments. The race will be started by the Lighthouse foghorn promptly at 10:30.
Simultaneous with the Lighthouse Race is the Buoy Race (a swim from the buoy to the shore). Last but certainly not least, are the non-timed Childrens Swim Races, which are grouped by age and run parallel to the beach.
After the awards ceremony, all are invited to join in the traditional beach games, including tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest and an egg toss!
