Join us for an exhilarating day at the annual Ladrigan Swim Races and Family Fun Day on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, at the picturesque Bayley Beach in Norwalk, Western Connecticut. Celebrate the end of summer with thrilling swim races, starting with the iconic Lighthouse Race, a one-mile journey from Greens Ledge Lighthouse to the shore. Check-in for participants and their kayak escorts begins at 7:30 AM, with shuttle boats departing to the lighthouse at 8 AM. The race kicks off at 9:30 AM, heralded by the sound of the Lighthouse foghorn.
In addition to the Lighthouse Race, swimmers can participate in the Buoy Race, which takes competitors from the buoy to the beach. Young ones can also join in on the fun with non-timed Children's Swim Races, organized by age and running parallel to the shore. After the excitement of the races, everyone is invited to gather for a lively awards ceremony, followed by traditional beach games, including tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest, and an egg toss. Organiser's Description
Celebrate the end of the summer with the annual Arthur J. Ladrigan Swim Races and Family Fun Day at Bayley Beach. Well start the swim races with the Lighthouse Race (a one-mile swim from Greens Ledge Lighthouse to shore). Check-in for Lighthouse Race swimmers and their kayak escorts will start at 7:30 AM. At 8 AM shuttle boats will begin taking swimmers to the light, where they can view the amazing renovations done over the last five years, and enjoy light refreshments. The race will be started by the Lighthouse foghorn promptly at 9:30.
Simultaneous with the Lighthouse Race is the Buoy Race (a swim from the buoy to the shore). Last but certainly not least, are the non-timed Childrens Swim Races, which are grouped by age and run parallel to the beach.
After the awards ceremony, all are invited to join in the traditional beach games, including tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest and an egg toss!
