Get ready for an exciting day of fitness and fun at the Lake Escape 5K, 10K, and Kids 1K taking place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in the scenic town of Loda, Illinois. This vibrant event features a beautiful, partially shaded figure-8 course that winds around the stunning twin lakes, Lake Iroquois and Bayles Lake. Runners of all ages can participate, with the 10K taking a scenic clockwise loop around Bayles Lake followed by a counter-clockwise loop around Lake Iroquois, culminating in a thrilling downhill sprint to the beach. The 5K is perfect for those looking for a shorter distance, as it focuses solely on the loop around Lake Iroquois. For the little ones, a fun-filled Kids 1K will be held right after the adult races, ensuring a day of excitement for the entire family.
With a starting time of 7:30 AM and chip timing in place, runners can enjoy a flexible start window to maintain social distancing. Don’t forget to cool off after the race with a refreshing dip in the lake! Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in each race, alongside age group

Organiser's Description
The Lake Escape is a rolling, partially shaded figure-8 course traversing the roads around the beautiful twin lakes, Lake Iroquois and Bayles Lake, in Loda, IL. Starting near the beach of Lake Iroquois, 10k runners will complete the clockwise loop around Bayles Lake prior to heading towards the counter-clockwise loop around Lake Iroquois and finish with a downhill sprint to the beach. 5k runners will only run the loop around Lake Iroquois. A kid's 1K will be held near the beach immediately following the conclusion of the 10K. Awards will be given to the overall male and female in each race as well as top 3 age group awards for the following age groups under 15, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ . Special Note: All runners are welcome to take a dip in the lake at the beach to cool off after the race!!
Starting time for the race will be 7:30 however with chip timing, we will allow a 15-30 minute window to start, if runners would like to allow more distancing between each other.
