Organiser's Description
You ready to howl at the moon?
This is not your average race; this challenge is meant to see how far you can push yourself in a set time limit. What time limit you ask? From dusk until dawn.....can you make it all night long? There is no cut off times or speed requirements, to be considered a finisher you have to complete the first lap at dusk and the last lap at dawn, the winner will be decided by how many laps are completed by the end of the night.
THIS RACE WELCOMES ALL LEVELS AND PACES!!!!!
This is an off-road trail and is on uneven terrain, although the trails are well maintained we cannot account for mother nature so don't be surprised by animals, weather, and everything that comes along with a southern fall night.
NO STROLLERS or PETS! The farm dogs will keep you company and pushing a stroller on these trails could get dicey!
THE RACE WILL BEGIN AT DUSK!!! THE 5:30 START IS A ROUGH GUESS. WE TAKE THE FIRST LAP WITH THE SETTING SUN TO FAMILIRIZE YOU WITH THE COURSE, THEN IT'S HEADLAMP AND FLASHLIGHTS TIL DAWN!
We will sound the horn for the start of the race and again at midnight to signal a direction change. The third horn will signal the final lap of the race.
Breakfast will be provided following the race along with the awards for top finishers!
Sign up before Oct. 15 to guarantee a T-Shirt.
Come out and support the Laurens County Humane Society!
This is an off road, approximately 1 mile trail. The course begins in the front of the main barn/ crew area on gravel then transitions to a short downhill wooded area that dumps out into an open field. You will follow along the edge of Beaverdam Creek for a short trek then head back into the woods again for a moment, popping out to circle around a plot of planted pine trees. This is followed by a lovely scamper through a hay pasture back to the gravel road that leads you back to the start.
PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN LIGHT SOURCE!
WE ARE HAPPY TO HAVE TAILWIND NUTRITION ON BOARD THIS YEAR AND WE WILL HAVE PLENTY OF SNACKS AND WATER AT THE AID STATION AS WELL! WE WILL ALSO HAVE VOLUNTEERS SERVING UP HOT FOOD THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT TO KEEP YOU FUELED!
The barn area will have plenty of room for tents and crew setups, we have room for campers as well but limited space so first come first serve.
ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?
That's okay! We are adding a 5k option to the Long night in Lanford! The 5k will begin at 4 P.M. before our all-night run gets underway. Come and enjoy the festivities even if you can't stay all night! For those brave enough to sign up for both options we will have a special award waiting for you at the end of the night!
Gate will open at 12 PM Saturday for set ups.
Check in and packet pickup: 12pm- 4pm Saturday November 16..
