Get ready for an exhilarating day of fitness and fun at the Longest Dam Race on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in the beautiful Fort Peck, McCone. This exciting event caters to participants of all ages and skill levels, featuring a variety of race distances including a challenging 10K and 5K run, a 5K walk, a scenic 1-mile run/walk, and a novice 10-mile bike route.

The race kicks off with the 10K run, starting at the top of the stunning Fort Peck Dam and offering breathtaking views as runners traverse nearly the entire length of the dam. With a gradual drop in elevation, participants will enjoy a mix of gravel, dirt, and asphalt as they make their way to the finish line at Kiwanis Park. The 5K run and walk follow a similar route, while the 1-mile walk/run takes place on a flat, paved nature trail within the park. Cyclists can look forward to a 10-mile adventure that showcases the beauty of the area. Organiser's Description

Events Include: 10K & 5K Run, 5K Walk, 1-Mile Run/Walk, 10-mile Novice Bike Route, and virtual races.

The Course: The race begins with the10K run which starts at the top of the Fort Peck Dam near the Dam Shaft houses on Highway 24 and proceeds across almost the entire distance of the Dam. There is a 3.1-mile turnaround near the middle of the course, then an approximate 350-foot gradual drop in elevation which is on a gravel/dirt road. This surface transitions back onto asphalt for the last near half mile to the finish line in front of Kiwanis Park. The 5K Run & Walk is on the same course as the 10K less the turnaround portion of the race which begin on top of the Fort Peck Dam and go down a gravel road for approximately 1K and finish at Kiwanis Park. The 1- mile walk/run will be on a nature trail at Kiwanis Park, which is a flat course that is paved. The novice bike race is approximately 10 miles and will start at the top of the Dam heading across the dam and back, continues past the start line, then downhill and flattens out onward to the finish line. All races will finish at Kiwanis Park.

    Starts at the top of the Dam at the same start as 10K & 5K and continues across the entire length of the Dam with a turn-around at the Invasive Species information sign. Then traces back across the Dam and past the start line, continuing down Power House Hill to the finish line in front of Kiwanis Park. Helmets are mandatory for all cyclists. Flip flops will not be permitted! You will be responsible for getting your bike to the starting line. Please no pets. Remember you are responsible for the safety of pedestrians and you must obey bicycle safety rules.

    Starts in the group camping area at the back of the Downstream Camp Ground (Kiwanis Park) near the Bass Fishing Pond. Continue on the Nature Trail out to the open field towards the Town of Fort Peck along the trail finishing at the Kiwanis Amphitheater. Buses will be provided to transport participants to the starting area as no personal vehicles will be allowed to enter the group site. Participants may walk or ride bikes to the starting area if they prefer.
