Check-in and same-day registration will take place from 9 to 10 AM, with the 1-mile race kicking off at 10 AM and the 5K race starting at 10:30 AM. The trails will guide you across picturesque fields, over streams, and through lush woods, all while enjoying stunning views of Ascutney Mountain. With registration fees of $30 for the 5K and $20 for the 1-mile trail, participants who raise $111 or more will receive a complimentary event t-shirt. The countdown is on for the Lucy Mac 5K9 on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Ascutney Outdoors!
The Lucy Mac 5K9 is held on the trails at Ascutney Outdoors and is one of Lucy Mackenzie Humane Societys largest fundraising events of the year. This year's event is even more special as Lucy Mackenzie celebrates 111 years of serving animals and people in the community! The Lucy Mac 5K9 offers both a timed 5K route as well as a 1-mile option. Runners and walkers can participate solo, or as a team, and enjoy the thrilling and beautiful trails of Ascutney Mountain all in support of the animals at Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society. As always, dogs are welcome to join in on the fun!
The registration fee is $30 for the 5K trail and $20 for the 1-mile trail.
In honor of our 111th anniversary, every participant that raises at least $111 will receive a free 2026 5K9 t-shirt!
All participants completing the 5K9 will receive a custom Lucy Mac 5K9 medal!
Check-in and registration will be 9 10AM at the Ascutney Outdoors Center located at 449 Ski Tow Road, Brownsville, VT 05037.
The 1-mile race will kick-off at 10AM, and the 5K race will start at 10:30AM.
Participants will be treated to a scenic Vermont adventure as they race along handcrafted trails located on the western base of Ascutney Mountain. The 5K trail will lead participants across fields, over streams and through the woods before they finish winding down the ski slopes of the mountain. Views from the course are sure to be spectacular. For those not quite up to the full 5K trail, were also offering a fantastic 1-mile course which is just as much fun.

LOCATION: Ascutney Outdoors Center, 449 Ski Tow Road, Brownsville, VT 05037 (directions provided below)
TIME: Check-in and same-day registration will be 9 - 10AM
1-mile race will begin at 10:00AM
5K race will begin at 10:30AM
SHOES: Both the 5K and the 1-mile routes cross over grass, hand-crafted dirt trails (with many rocks and exposed roots), dirt road and wooden bridging. We heavily advise wearing a trail sneaker, hiking shoes/boots, or a shoe that will offer you ample traction and support. The trail could potentially be muddy and wet in spots, especially in heavy wooded areas. We want everybody to enjoy this adventure and to be safe and injury free!
DOGS: Were thrilled that Ascutney Outdoors is a dog-friendly destination! If you are bringing along a dog, they must be kept on a leash at all times, and please pick-up after them.
AMENITIES: There are indoor bathrooms in the Ascutney Outdoors Center.
T-SHIRTS: **All participants that raised $111 or more in honor of our 111th anniversary will received a free 2026 5K9 race day t-shirt! You will receive your t-shirt when you check-in or register. Following registration, there will be a limited supply of t-shirts available for purchase.
REFRESHMENTS: We will be providing bottled water and light refreshments. There are also water bubblers in the AO Center.

FROM WINDSOR:
Starting on Main Street, take Route 44 West for 5.3 miles.
Turn left on to Ski Tow Rd. (Ascutney Mountain Resort).
Continue straight on Ski Tow Rd. until you see event parking signs. Registration and check-in will be in the Ascutney Outdoors Center.
FROM CLAREMONT, NH:
Starting at Tractor Supply on Main St., take Highway 12N/Main St. following into Vermont.
After crossing the Connecticut River, turn right onto US-5 North at the 4-way intersection.
In 1.1 miles, take a slight left onto VT-44A West (Back Mountain Rd.)
Follow to the end (3.0 miles) and take a left on to VT-44 West.
Follow for 2-miles and take a left on to Ski Tow Rd. (Ascutney Mountain Resort)
Continue straight on Ski Tow Rd., until you see event parking signs. Registration and check-in will be in the Ascutney Outdoors Center.
FROM WOODSTOCK:
Starting at the Green, take a right on to VT-106 South. Follow for 12.7 miles.
Turn left onto VT-44 East and continue for 4.9 miles.
Take a right on Ski Tow Rd. (Ascutney Mountain Resort).
Continue straight on Ski Tow Rd. until you see event parking signs. Registration and check-in will be in the Ascutney Outdoors Center.
FROM SPRINGFIELD:
Starting at the Shaw's Plaza or McDonald's, take VT 106 N. Follow for 3.1 miles and turn right.
Stay on VT 106 North for another 10 miles.
Turn right on to VT-44 East and continue for 4.9 miles.
Take a right on to Ski Tow Rd. (Ascutney Mountain Resort).
Continue straight on Ski Tow Rd. until you see event parking signs. Registration and check-in will be in the Ascutney Outdoors Center.
