Join us for the exciting Mayor's Run for the Trails 5K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in beautiful Johnston, Polk! This vibrant community event promises a day of fun and fitness, kicking off with the 5K walk and Kids Fun Run at 8:00 a.m., followed by the official 5K race starting at 8:15 a.m. Participants will enjoy chip-timed races and receive a stylish short-sleeve dri-fit t-shirt with early registration.
The 5K registration fee ranges from $30 to $40 depending on when you sign up, while Kids Fun Runs are available for just $10 to $15. Young runners aged 10 and under can participate in two fun, untimed dashes: a 100-meter dash for ages 2-5 and a 0.62-mile run around the lake for ages 6-10, each receiving a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and medal. Organiser's Description
The registration fee includes a short-sleeve dri-fit t-shirt. If you register after July 11th, your shirt size is not guaranteed. We will do our best to increase shirt sizes in quantities before the order is placed to accommodate runners. 5K REGISTRATION FEES: If you are participating in the walk, your start time will be 8:00 a.m. to ensure that the prizes can be awarded after the runners cross the finish line.

Age groups for the fun run: The kid's dash and the 0.62 around the lake are fun, untimed dashes for our kiddos ages 10 and under. Registration includes a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and medal! (If your child wants to run the kid's dash, and doesn't want the SWAG, they are welcome to run with us on race day for free!) The swag will be given out during packet pickup on Friday, August 9.

PACKETS: We encourage participants to pick up their packets on Friday, August 8, from 4-6 p.m. at City Hall, 6221 Merle Hay Rd., Johnston. If you cannot pick them up on Friday, packets will be available on race morning.
MAYOR'S RUN BRANDED ITEMS: T-shirts and medals will be provided for the runners.
FOOD: We will partner with a local grocer to provide after-race food.
PHOTOS: Photos will be taken of the runners during the event. We encourage you to take a selfie and tag us using #MayorsRunforTrails2025.
PRIZES BY AGE GROUP: Only 5K runners are eligible for age group and raffle prizes. Top prizes are awarded to females and males in specific age groups.
