Organiser's Description
The Michael Henter Foundations inaugural Miles for Michael 5K is a meaningful, non-profit event dedicated to raising awareness of aortic disease and Marfan Syndrome while providing support to those affected. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Michael Henter Foundation, whose mission is to raise awareness for Marfan Syndrome and drive positive change through compassion, advocacy, education, and progress. Inspired by Michael Henter himself, our goal is to make a lasting impact and save lives.
Michael, a devoted Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) member, tragically passed away in 2023, but his legacy of leadership, kindness, and dedication continues to inspire us. This first-ever 5K will bring together runners, walkers, and supporters to celebrate Michaels memory and make a difference in the lives of others.
The Miles for Michael 5K is being organized by the University of Northern Iowas student business organization, Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE), and will take place on September 13 at 9:00 AM on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa.
The course is designed with a repeated loop format, indicated by yellow arrows. Runners will start at the University of Northern Iowa's Campanile, a landmark in the heart of campus, before embarking on a scenic route through the university grounds. Shortly after the start, participants will enter the loop, completing it twice in full. On the third time around, instead of continuing the loop, they will take a left turn by Rod Library to head toward the finish line. This course layout provides a structured and engaging experience, allowing participants to take in the beauty of campus while running for a meaningful cause.
