Participants will enjoy a reverse triathlon format, beginning with the swim in the outdoor pool, followed by a bike course featuring seven laps around the beautiful NMSU grounds, and concluding with two laps of running around the fields behind the activity center. NMSU SPRINT TRIATHLON RACE WILL BE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24TH AT 8 AM. DUE TO SCHEDULING CONFLICTS WITH THE NMSU SWIM TEAM, THE TRIATHLON HAS BEEN DELAYED 1 WEEK FROM SATURDAY OCTOBER 17TH TO SATURDAY OCTOBER 24TH.
NMSU will be hosting a sprint triathlon event this fall after a hiatus of more than ten years. This triathlon will be in run, bike, swim order and will start at the Aquatic Center parking lot (reverse triathlon). Register now!
The sprint triathlon distances for this race will be a 5 kilometer run (3.1 miles), a 20 kilometer bike (12.4 miles), and a 400 meter (0.25 mile) swim. The run will be two laps around the fields behind the activity center and Sutherland Village, the bike will be seven laps going around the back side of NMSU campus following the run route. The swim will be a traditional snake swim in NMSUs outdoor pool. The transition area is located in the NMSU Aquatic Center parking lot. Check out the race maps on the maps page of our website!
We will be offering relay options for this race! Grab two friends and split up the triathlon disciplines, with each of you tackling a portion of the race.
AWARDS
The top three individual male and female athletes will receive a race shot glass with the logo and their place! The top three relay teams will also receive custom shot glasses!
Finisher medals and race T-shirts will be given to all participants. Age group awards for the top 3 in every USAT age category may be given out depending on the number of registrations for the event. Awards will also be given to the top three participants in the Clydesdale and Athena weight categories (men weighing a minimum of 220 lbs, and women weighing a minimum of 165 lbs).

This registration is for the captain of the relay team. Each participant does one discipline of the triathlon. Distances are the same as the sprint race: 5 kilometer run (3.1 miles), a 20 kilometer bike (12.4 miles), and a 400 meter (0.25 mile) swim. Grab two friends! The relay captain pays for the full team. Each relay team participant registers for the race and joins the team in the registration process. Team member registration costs after the team captain are free after the captain pays for the team.
