On Saturday, April 13th, Omega Phi Alpha is hosting our first annual 5K event (O5K) on and around the BU brain to raise money and support for mental health and suicide awareness. O5k will be starting at the the front of University Union at 11AM. The first three male and female runners will receive a prize! Free water and snacks will be provided to all participants.
As Binghamton students, we have learned firsthand how mental health can impact not just individuals but the campus as a whole. Our goal is to raise money for an organization that will benefit Binghamton and surrounding areas directly within the mental health realm: the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier. All proceeds from donations, registration, and sponsorships will be directed toward the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier.
The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) is a nonprofit organization based in New York State, USA. It serves the Southern Tier region, which includes counties such as Broome, Tioga, Chenango, and Delaware. MHAST is dedicated to promoting mental wellness and providing support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by mental illness.
MHAST offers various programs and services aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and helping individuals access resources for treatment and support. These programs may include support groups, educational workshops, crisis intervention services, suicide prevention initiatives, and community outreach activities.
