We are so excited to bring back an awesome Outer Banks tradition in the Town of Southern Shores! Show your thanks this Thanksgiving by running as a family in the 15th annual OBX Turkey Trot. Thanksgiving morning is a perfect time to be surrounded by family and friends in the beautiful town of Southern Shores. Lace up your sneakers and come on out to run or walk with us! We have pancakes for all participants, one of a kind raffles, the first place male and female will take home our amazing Thanksgiving Pies specially made for your thanksgiving meal! Each finisher will also receive a finishers themed medal!
The OBX Turkey Trot is a 5k and childrens fun run to support the non-profit organization, OBX GO FAR (Go Out For A Run). OBX GO FAR is a non-profit childrens program designed to fight childhood obesity by educating children on healthy habits and positive character traits all while training for a 5K or Fun Run. Your support in our fundraiser event would help us scholarship more children into the program. This year marks our 15th Anniversary of OBX GO FAR and your support has touched the lives of over 10,000 participants in our program!
This is a family fun event, if you want to know your time wear a watch or make sure you look at the clock at the finish line! Parents are encouraged to come out and run with their children.
*** Online registration will open September 1st for 5K for $40 and 1 Mile Fun Run for $20. Each registered participant will receive our awesome, one-of-a-kind Turkey Trot T-shirt during the qualifying registration period (9/1- 10/31). Price increase is November 1st

LATE REGISTRATION INFO
If spots are still available, on-site registration will be available (t-shirts will NOT be guaranteed at on-site registration) at Packet Pick-up Wednesday, November 27th from 3:00 pm 5:30 pm. Race Day Registration is on November 28th. It is open from 7:30 am 8:00 am ONLY and at the Pitts Center, located at 5377 N Virginia Dare Trail Southern Shores, besides the goodwill. THE RACE BEGINS AT 8:30AM!
PARKING INFO
It will be available at the Southern Shores town hall or at the Southern Shores Crossing shopping center off of HWY 12 on Ocean Boulevard. Please do not park in the Goodwill shopping center located behind town hall. We will have a parking attendant to advise you where to park that morning
The 5k will start at the town hall of Southern Shores. This is not a timed event; it is a family fun event. Please wear a watch and observe the race clock to keep track of your time.
CHILDRENS FUN RUN INFO
During the qualifying registration period, we will be including Youth-size shirts for the FUN RUN, which is tailored for children 12 and under. This 1-mile run is scheduled to kick off around 9:30 am, immediately following the OBX TURKEY TROT!

5K Course: 3.1 miles beginning just behind Southern Shores Town Hall in the cul-de-sac. Run will be mainly on pavement, however there is some cross over to uneven pavement at the first turn to the sidewalk from the road. Course will wind through Spindrift and High Dune Loop to return back down Skyline Drive to the finish. Start and finish of all runs is at the Pitts Center located directly behind town hall. Race begins promptly at 8:30 AM and will have a one hour time limit. The Fun Run will begin promptly following the 5K no later than 9:30 AM. Raffles and Prizes will follow shortly after the 5K! Strollers and dogs (on a leash) are welcome on course. Traffic control and Hamm Radio will be present. Water station on the course. Stick around for a hot second after your run for awesome raffles, the largest flock award, hot pancakes and awards for the top male and female runners! -
