Run 5K with One Thousand Schools and meet special guest, international ultra-marathon runner and YouTube star Shin Fujiyama! With over 100 schools built, ONE THOUSAND SCHOOLS IS ON A MISSION TO EMPOWER YOUTH IN HONDURAS THROUGH EDUCATION. Run and support our educational and residential programming for at risk and homeless youth. Celebrate Honduran heritage and international humanitarian service for education. RUN AND BE ENTERED TO WIN A SPECIAL RUN-BASED TRIP TO HONDURAS TO TRAIN WITH A HONDURAN OLYMPIAN AND HIS RUN CLUB!
Founded by Falls Church resident and Mary Washington Alumni, Shin Fujiyama - the One Thousand Schools organization has grown to build _over 100 schools in Honduras._ Hundreds of volunteers from the greater DC area have volunteered with the organization since 2007 in Honduras working on education programs. THE PURPOSE OF THIS RUN IS TO RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS FOR THE ORGANIZATION PROMOTING EDUCATION AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT FOR HONDURAN YOUTH TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL AND RESIDENTIAL SERVICES FOR HOMELESS YOUTH.

Con m'as de 100 escuelas construidas, One Thousand Schools tiene la misi'on de empoderar a la juventud de Honduras a trav'es de la educaci'on. Corre y apoya nuestros programas educativos y residenciales dirigidos a j'ovenes en situaci'on de riesgo y sin hogar. Celebra la herencia hondure~na y el servicio humanitario internacional en favor de la educaci'on. !Corre y participa en el sorteo de un viaje especial a Honduras, centrado en el running, para entrenar junto a un atleta ol'impico hondure~no y su club de corredores!
Fundada por Shin Fujiyama residente de Falls Church y exalumno de la Universidad Mary Washington, la organizaci'on One Thousand Schools ha crecido hasta construir m'as de 100 escuelas en Honduras. Cientos de voluntarios del 'area metropolitana de Washington D.C. han colaborado con la organizaci'on en Honduras desde 2007, trabajando en diversos programas educativos. El prop'osito de esta carrera es recaudar fondos y generar conciencia sobre la labor de la organizaci'on, promoviendo la educaci'on y el empoderamiento de la juventud hondure~na, as'i como brindar servicios educativos y residenciales a j'ovenes sin hogar.

Timed by our race partner DC Road Runners, run 5K on a beautiful race course following the Mt. Vernon trail starting from Dangerfield Island park to Oronoco Park and back.
