With over 100 schools built, One Thousand Schools is on a mission to empower youth in Honduras through education. Run and support our educational and residential programming for at risk and homeless youth. Celebrate Honduran heritage and international humanitarian service for education. Run and be entered to win a special run-based trip to Honduras to train with a Honduran Olympian and his run club!
Founded by Falls Church resident and Mary Washington Alumni, Shin Fujiyama - the One Thousand Schools organization has grown to build over 100 schools in Honduras. Hundreds of volunteers from the greater DC area have volunteered with the organization since 2007 in Honduras working on education programs. The purpose of this run is to raise funds and awareness for the organization promoting education and youth empowerment for Honduran youth to provide educational and residential services for homeless youth.
