This one-of-a-kind event invites participants to step back into the 1980s with a playful twist on the classic computer game, The Oregon Trail. Runners will embark on an interactive journey, making decisions that will determine their fate as they travel from Missouri to Oregon. Whether you choose to float or ford the river, or face the infamous risk of dysentery, every choice counts!
The race will feature a variety of distances to accommodate everyone, including a challenging 5K, a scenic 1 Mile Walk, and a delightful Kid's Fun Run. The Kids Fun Run starts at 9:00 AM and is split into two age groups, ensuring fun for kids of all ages. Plus, participants can enjoy stunning views of the Willamette River and historic landmarks like the 100-year-old Municipal Elevator and the McLoughlin neighborhood. Organiser's Description
Included in the registration fee is an End of the Oregon Trail event shirt as long as you are signed up before May 8th. After which there are a limited number of shirts available before race day. If we run out of your size, shirts will be mailed after May 23rd.
The Oregon Trail Game 5k presented by Oregon City Schools Foundation [https://www.ocsf.org/] is a run based on the 1980s classic computer game, The Oregon Trail! Runners are taken on an interactive journey where theyll make decisions as if they were traveling from Missouri to Oregon. Will you float or ford the river, or die of dysentery along the way? Each decision you make along the trail will determine your ultimate fate. This one-of-a-kind event celebrates Oregon Citys heritage and encourages an active lifestyle and supports our local schools. 2026 features the 5K, One Mile Walk and Free Kids Run!
In addition to receiving a timed score, runners and walkers will also receive a game score at the end, based on the decisions they make throughout the game.
Course features include:
Start and end at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center
Run past the iconic 100-year-old Municipal Elevator
Challenging 223-step run up stairs alongside Singer Hill Falls
Beautiful views overlooking the Willamette River and Willamette Falls
Run through the historic McLoughlin neighborhood and past attractions including Carnegie Library, McLoughlin House and Barclay House
The Kids Fun Run will start at 9:00am. It'll be divided into two groups: The younger group age 6 and under will run approximately 100 yards. The older group age 7-11 will run approximately 200 yards. The kids' fun race is untimed.
KIDS FUN RUN includes the Oregon Trail Game and activities for ages 11 and under. Meet at the race start, 1726 Washington St Oregon City from 7:45-8:45 am to participate. Free prizes and fun!
