The event is sponsored by the Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park Inc. We are a volunteer 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to promoting the use, enjoyment, and appreciation of the Park. All proceeds go to benefit programs at the Park and foster environmental stewardship and education.
The Osprey Run/Walk is an event suitable for participants of all ages and activity levels. The course follows a beautiful route in one of the most beautiful parks in the State of Virginia. Along the paved route, runners will catch views of Smith Mountain Lake, wooded forests, and the shoreline along the way. The route has easy rolling hills throughout and ends with a downhill finish.
Chip timing provides accurate results and will be displayed right after completion of the event. Runners will be treated to recovery drinks, fruit and energy bars. Top finishers and age group winners for men and women will receive awards. Runners will also receive quality race shirts as a memento of their accomplishment.
