For over 200 years, Parkinson Disease has been steadily growingand recently, at an alarming rate. It is now the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world. In the U.S., Florida has the highest number of cases per capita, with over 79,000 individuals affected, contributing to the 1 million cases nationwide and 10 million globally. That number is projected to rise to 12.9 million by 2040.
Parkinsons is a chronic, progressive, and complex multi-system disorder with no known cure. While often classified as a movement disorder, it affects much more than just physical movement, impacting mental, emotional, and autonomic functions as well.
The Lee Health Parkinson Program has served over 4,500 individuals in our community and currently supports nearly 2,000 people. Our mission is to provide hope and critical resources to help individuals and families navigate the challenges of living with Parkinsons. Offering, at no cost personalized support, education, movement and exercise classes, enrichment groups, and social activities to help improve quality of life. Until there is a cure, there is a communityone that stands together to ensure no one faces Parkinsons alone.
Join us for the Parkinson's Wellness Walk, benefiting the Lee Health Parkinson Program, as we come together to raise awareness and funds for local Parkinsons support initiatives.
