Get ready for the Quiet Silence 50k, an exciting ultra-marathon taking place in scenic Lake Mills, Jefferson from December 5th to 6th, 2025! This unique event kicks off at 7 PM on December 5th, offering participants an exhilarating 8 hours to complete an out-and-back course on the beautiful Glacial Drumlin State Trail. Starting at Rotary Park in Lake Mills, runners will make their way to the Western terminus in Cottage Grove, traversing a mostly flat, crushed gravel trail that promises to be a treat for both seasoned athletes and newcomers alike.
As you embark on this adventure, you'll have the opportunity to place an unsupported drop bag at an outdoor pavilion about 8 miles from the start, ensuring you have the fuel you need for the journey ahead. The halfway mark will feature warm food, snacks, and enthusiastic volunteers ready to cheer you on as you turn back towards the finish line. This event not only celebrates the joy of running but also emphasizes mindfulness, encouraging participants to respect the peaceful communities along the route. 12/5 at 7pm, youll have 8 hours to complete this out and back 50k on the Glacial Drumlin State Trail. We will be starting at the Rotary Park in Lake Mills and turning around at the Western terminus of the Glacial Drumlin in Cottage Grove.
This section of the Glacial Drumlin State Trail is a mostly flat, crushed gravel trail.
This event is brought to you by TYDISH RUNNING partnering with Chase the Sun Running Co. Our relationship with the cities we travel through and the DNR are highly protected. We are so lucky and thankful to have this all season, multi-use path here locally. We will absolutely adhere to the highest respect to everyone involved who maintains it.

One unsupported drop bag is allowed on the way out. Itll be set at an outdoor pavilion roughly 8 miles from the start. Then youll pass it again (mile 23ish) on the way back and on to the finish!!! The halfway mark of the 50k is your turnaround point. Here, well host warm food, all the usual running snacks, volunteers and cheers to fill you back up and send you back on your way.
The event is clock timed with awards given to the top 3 Female and Male finishers.
Its Quiet out and Silence on the way back. Obviously not total silence, just a gentle way for us to remember to be mindful of the sleeping communities we are traveling through late at night and into the early morning.

Trail passes are not needed for foot traffic on the Glacial Drumlin Trail. There will be plenty of parking at the trailhead, but as always, we encourage you to carpool when possible.
