This exciting event will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in the heart of downtown Springfield, Sangamon. As part of the celebration for the 100th anniversary of the iconic Route 66, participants will enjoy a scenic 5K course that includes three loops, allowing runners to soak in the vibrant atmosphere filled with classic cars from the International Route 66 Mother Road Festival.
Race day kicks off with packet pickup starting at 6:20 AM, followed by the race starting at 7:30 AM. Every participant will receive fantastic Route 66-themed swag, including a finisher medal and event T-shirt, making this more than just a race—it's a celebration of history and community! With awards for the top overall male and female finishers, as well as top finishers in various age brackets, the Route 66 Mother Road 5K is not to be missed. Join us for a day filled with fun, fitness, and nostalgia on one of America's most beloved highways!

Celebrate the 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF HISTORIC ROUTE 66 by hitting the pavement at the 5TH ANNUAL ROUTE 66 MOTHER ROAD 5K FOOT RACE on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2026 in downtown Springfield. Packet pickup and start line is on the northeast corner of Old State Capitol Plaza.
This isnt just a raceits an experience. Youll run the streets alongside the iconic classic cars of the INTERNATIONAL ROUTE 66 MOTHER ROAD FESTIVAL, soaking in the sights, sounds, and nostalgia of Americas most famous highway.
All participants earn COOL ROUTE 66THEMED SWAG, including a finisher medal, event T-shirt, and more.
