The day kicks off with a Kids Run and Walk starting at 8:00 AM, followed by the official 5K Run at 8:05 AM. Participants can look forward to awards for overall male and female winners, as well as age group awards for categories ranging from 14 & under to 60 & over. With 100% of proceeds going to TFP research at UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, this event encourages everyone to lace up their sneakers and become a superhero for children battling metabolic disorders. In 2021 Sawyer Burch was diagnosed with TFP. His family is committed to helping Sawyer and other children with life-threatening metabolic disorders. To date our community has raised over $300,000. Put on your cape, you too can become a super hero!
TFP Mitochondrial beta-oxidation trifunctional protein (TFP) deficiency impairs the body's ability to generate cellular energy. Symptoms can lead to frequent hospitalizations and premature death. 100% of proceeds will go toward funding TFP research at UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh and will help children fighting this and other metabolic disorders.
