This thrilling ultramarathon event offers runners a chance to push their limits with three race distances—50k, 30k, and 10k—on a scenic 3.33km loop that combines both asphalt and gravel terrain. Participants in the 50k will tackle 15 loops, while the 30k and 10k runners will complete 9 and 3 loops, respectively.
The course features two notable climbs, adding a total of 120 feet of elevation gain per loop, making it both accessible for newcomers and challenging for seasoned athletes. The excitement begins early, with 50k bib pickup starting at 6 AM and the race kicking off at 7 AM. The 10k and 30k bib pickups follow closely behind, with those races starting at 8 AM. Runners must complete their final loop by 3:30 PM, with an overall cutoff time of 8.5 hours for the 50k and 7.5 hours for the 10k and 30k. Don’t miss this

inaugural Salem 50k - December 6, 2025
We're going on ten years of hosting Angry Owl Ultramarathons in Bush Park and it's time to grow. We're using a similar blueprint to Angry Owl as far as running a looped course at Bush, but we've changed a number of variables: the weather, the loop, and the distances are all quite a bit different.
Those that know and love Angry Owl will enjoy this event, and those who are new to us will find this event to be both accessible and challenging.
Course:
The course is a 3.33km loop all within the park. It's about half asphalt and half gravel or dirt. There are two notable climbs that account for most of the 120 feet of elevation gain per loop. The Strava map is embedded at the bottom of this page, and you can view the map on Strava HERE.
50k = 15 loops
30k = 9 loops
10k = 3 loops
The start/finish is at the bottom of the soap box derby hill off of Mission Street. Please note that this is a different start/finish location than Angry Owl.
