Event summary
Get ready for an exciting day of athleticism and camaraderie at the 11th Annual Sherando Youth Triathlon, taking place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in the beautiful Stephens City, Frederick! This event is perfect for young athletes aged 7 to 15, as they will tackle age-appropriate distances that include swimming, biking, and running. Participants will swim in a fun, safe environment, cycle through the scenic Sherando Park, and finish with a run on a portion of the Sherando High School Track.
Race distances vary by age group, with the 7-8 year olds completing a 25-meter swim, a 1-mile bike ride, and a 0.5-mile run. The 9-10 year olds will swim 75 meters, bike for 3 miles, and run for 1 mile, while both the 11-12 and 13-15 age groups will swim 125 meters, bike 3 miles, and also run 1 mile. All participants will receive a finisher medal, and awards will be given to the top three male and female competitors in each age group. Make sure to register by July 5th to secure your event t-shirt!

Join us for a fun-filled day of swimming, biking and running in the 11th year of the Sherando Youth Triathlon!
This triathlon will challenge your child in their age group with a swim, bike ride in Sherando Park, and a run utilizing a portion of the Sherando High School Track. Pre-Race Day Check-In and Bike Inspection will be on Saturday, August 9 at the Sherando Park Rotary Shelter (across from the Sherando Pool) between 5-7 p.m.
If you are not able to attend the bike inspection on 8/9, you can visit Element Sports or Blue Ridge Bicycles. Please email for the bicycle inspection form.
AGE AND DISTANCE:
