Get ready for an exciting day of athleticism and fun at the Sherando Youth Triathlon on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in beautiful Stephens City, Frederick! Celebrating its 11th year, this vibrant event invites young competitors to take on a thrilling challenge that includes a swim, bike ride, and run tailored specifically for their age group. Participants aged 7-8 will tackle a 25-meter swim, a 1-mile bike ride, and a 0.5-mile run, while those aged 9-10 will swim 75 meters, bike 3 miles, and run 1 mile. The older age groups, 11-12 and 13-15, will face a 125-meter swim, a 3-mile bike ride, and a 1-mile run.
Race packets can be picked up on Saturday, August 9, at the Sherando Park pool, where bike inspections will also take place. Every participant will receive a finisher medal, and the top three male and female finishers in each age group will be recognized with awards. Join us for a fun-filled day of swimming, biking and running in the 11th year of the Sherando Youth Triathlon!
This triathlon will challenge your child in their age group with a swim, bike ride in Sherando Park, and a run utilizing a portion of the Sherando High School Track. Race packets will be available on Saturday, August 9 at the Sherando Park pool and can be picked up between 5-7 p.m. ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO DO A BIKE INSPECTION WHICH WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 9 AT THE SHERANDO PARK POOL FROM 5-7 P.M.
If you are not able to attend the bike inspection on 8/9, you can visit Element Sports or Blue Ridge Bicycles. Please email for the bicycle inspection form.
AGE AND DISTANCE:
7-8 (25-meter swim, 1-mile bike, .5-mile run)
9-10 (75-meter swim, 3-mile bike, 1-mile run)
11-12 (125-meter swim, 3-mile bike, 1-mile run)
13-15 (125-meter swim, 3-mile bike, 1-mile run)
AWARDS: Top three male and female in each age group. All participants will receive a finisher medal. T-shirts are not guaranteed to participants who register after July 5th. Once the deadline passes, T-shirts will be first come, first serve while quantities/sizes last.
