Get ready for an exciting day of athleticism and fun at the Sherando Youth Triathlon, taking place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in beautiful Stephens City, Frederick! This vibrant event, now in its 13th year, invites young athletes to challenge themselves with a thrilling lineup of swimming, biking, and running tailored to their age group. Participants will enjoy a swim in the serene waters of Sherando Park, followed by a scenic bike ride, and a run that incorporates a portion of the Sherando High School Track.
The triathlon features various distances to cater to different age groups: 7-8 year-olds will tackle a 25-meter swim, a 1-mile bike, and a 0.5-mile run; 9-10 year-olds will swim 75 meters, bike 3 miles, and run 1 mile; 11-12 and 13-15 year-olds will take on a 125-meter swim, a 3-mile bike ride, and a 1-mile run. Every participant will receive a finisher medal, and awards will be presented to the top three male and female competitors in each age category. Don’t forget to join the Pre-Race Day Check-In and Bike

Join us for a fun-filled day of swimming, biking and running in the 13th year of the Sherando Youth Triathlon!
This triathlon will challenge your child in their age group with a swim, bike ride in Sherando Park, and a run utilizing a portion of the Sherando High School Track. Pre-Race Day Check-In and Bike Inspection will be on Saturday, August 1 at the Sherando Park Rotary Shelter (across from the Sherando Pool) between 5-7 p.m.

If you are not able to attend the bike inspection on 8/1, you can visit Element Sports or Blue Ridge Bicycles. Please email for the bicycle inspection form.
