You may paddle and/or skate. You dont have to do both, but its EXTRA EPIC if you do, and it will totally SUKSS!!

CATEGORIES:

* Skate (longboard, skateboard, quad[roller skate], inline, scooter)
* Paddle/Skate
* Wheelchair
* Kickbike

SATURDAY MORNING UNTIL SUNDAY MORNING, WITH AN AWESOME CONCERT IN BETWEEN AND BREAKFAST AT THE END.

When you check in, we'll dial in the categories you are competing in. The paddling window is from 8:30am on Saturday until 8:30 am on Sunday. From 6 PM to 8 PM, we will have a great band, repeat musical guests Mr. OK and the Last Light, sharing their Caribbean-infused reggae blend of groovy rock, performing on the ACTUAL lake from a pontoon boat deck! In a cove! The concert is included with your full registration. Concert tickets may be purchased separately from the event from Dig Paddlesports, for those not participating in the SUKSS. After the concert is over, from 9:30 PM until 5:30 AM, the parking lot IS OURS. Longboard, inline skate, roller skate, scooter, or surfskate as many miles as you can. Wee hours of the morning will be bonus hours, where you can get double or triple the miles for your ranking, both on water and on land.

If you are skating or paddling through the night, you may car-camp in the DIG parking lot or set up in our event-specific designated area on shore. We'll have event netting set up and our own area to launch and return. Restrooms are open throughout the night. There will be music playing from outdoor speakers. Bring earplugs, if needed, but speakers will be directed away from the camping area for minimal noise impact.

This is a self-supported event. Water is provided throughout the day. Plan to provide your own electrolyte and water bottles. We do sell beverage and refreshment in the shop, and we may pull some sponsorship rabbits out of a hat, but plan to self-support on the water, in particular. We'll have an aid station available on the skate course.

    CLOSED
    On event day, you'll be able to specify what type of craft you're paddling; recreational kayak, touring kayak, surfski, outrigger (# of seats), canoe, stand up paddleboard (SUP): 12' and under, 14', unlimited, prone paddleboard. You'll also be able to specify what type of skating you and/or your team will be doing: skateboard, longboard, surfskate, inline skate (Rollerblade-style), quad skate (old school roller rink!). We'll have a dry-erase spreadsheet to keep track of distance, based on measured distance for laps, as well as your GPS info. You want to have a GPS record of your distance. This can be through Paddle Logger, Strava, Garmin, Relive, etc. By uploading your .GPX file to the system, cumulative distances can be tracked. The paddle course will be an open course; other boats, including motorboats, personal watercraft, and any number of other craft may be present. Also present may be divers or surface swimmers. Be watchful and aware of dynamic, ever-changing surroundings as you paddle. At night, between sunset and sunrise, Utah boating law requires you to have a white light that you can turn on and deploy in time to avoid a collision. PWCs should be off the lake, but there may be some fishing activity. Give fishing and other boats wide berth, but be aware of shoreline and other navigational hazards after dark. We ask that you deploy a red light of some sort that stays on while you are paddling. Most headlamps have a red light function, for example. They are easy to see at night, and they do not interfere with your night vision ability. During the skate portion of the event, we will have exclusive use of the north boat ramp parking lot. There MAY be a couple of boat trailers in the lot. We will skate right around them. Be smart and courteous as we push ourselves in a fun way. The Concert - your ticket includes the concert from 6pm-8pm. You do NOT have to attend, but you may. If you are planning to not paddle and just skate, you are still invited to the concert. Let us know if you need a kayak or SUP to get to the cove, and we'll set you up with gear, based on availability. We have a LOT of gear, by the way, but it's a well-attended concert. Let us know ASAP. Skating will start after the concert is complete and the band is packed and out of the way. We should be able to start by 9:30, but we'll have to be flexible. Skate course is ~0.30 miles/0.50 km; if your GPS doesn't track, we have the option for manual recording of the distance, as long as you stay on the outside of the course cones. Course is a general kidney shape, with a 20'-30' turn at one end and about a 60' turn at the other, with long straights and false flats that play with speed a little. Asphalt quality is 100% Sweet Cream Butter. Course will be swept and blown prior to start and maintained throughout the night. Tunes provided, requests taken! We've tested the audio with our nearby camp hosts, and they can't hear the music at full blast from a certain distance. We have some great demo boards for you to sample. Cruisers and distance missiles from Hamboards, SUP Skate, Loaded, Arbor, and surfskates from Solride, Lost on Maui, Waterborne, Kahuna Creations, and RYD are available for you to test. Some of these are specially-crafted by legendary skate tinkerer, Patrick Guillermo. Nick Guillen has been playing with some setups, and Bill, your hairodynamic host, has been testing them all. SUP Skate poles and Land Paddles are available, as well. If you want to order any of that gear, reach out to [email protected] and we'll get it in, if we don't have it in stock. Both events should be considered self-supported. On-site we have a snack and gift shop, as well as a food trailer (great selection from www.digingrille.com, updates being made to add Angus beef burgers, including "protein style"). We'll have cold water available from coolers on the beach and at the skate course to refill your pouches and bottles. Aid station will be manned for the skate course, and there will be some swag snacks... Boondock RV camping is available at our shop parking area until event ends. A section of Dig Beach will be set aside for tents and hammocks, and you can also sleep in your cars by the Dig shop. Parking lot area south of Dig Paddlesports' doors are to be considered All Quiet between 10pm and 6am. We can make music and cheer folks on north of the shop without disturbing our permanent camp hosts, which will be great. Breakfast provided on Sunday 29th. Likely a protein pancake breakfast with egg and meat options available. Details forthcoming. We are also helping www.bridgeutah.com. Bring canned or dry goods (not expired) to help local families through tough times. Any questions, please call Bill at 435-680-5818. We are stoked to have you visit!
