Get ready for an unforgettable day of fun and fitness at the Springfield Township Firecracker 5K, taking place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in the beautiful Community Homecoming Park located in Holland, Lucas. This vibrant event is part of the annual Freedom Celebration and honors the memory of Pvt. Sterling "Butch" Rahe, a cherished Springfield Township resident. Participants can choose to run or walk the scenic 5K course, which includes a newly developed fitness trail, while competing for exciting top prizes.
Kick off the day with advance registration to secure your preferred shirt size, followed by day-of registration from 7:45 to 8:45 am. Join us for a warm welcome at 8:46 am, a warm-up at 8:55 am, and then the race begins! Runners will take off at 9:00 am, followed by walkers at 9:05 am. Don't miss the hilarious Hero HUSTLE at 9:35 am, where local celebrities will race in inflatable dinosaur suits to raise money for charity. The event wraps up with an awards ceremony at 9:50 am, celebrating the achievements of all participants. Join us for a day filled with community spirit

The Firecracker 5K Run/Walk and Hero HUSTLE are new additions to Springfield Township's annual and wildly popular Freedom Celebration! We created this event to honor the memory of long-time Springfield Township resident Pvt. Sterling "Butch" Rahe, who left us too soon in January of 2024. The Firecracker 5K Run/Walk will offer participants the opportunity to enjoy the terrain of Community Homecoming Park including the new fitness trail, enjoy the fun, competing for top prizes and see proceeds benefit firefighter mental health and scholarship initiatives. The time frame includes:
