Join us for the 7th Annual Strides for Adam 5K on Sunday, March 29th, 2026, in Riverview, Wayne! This uplifting event will feature a 5K run, a walk, and a 1-mile reflection walk, all aimed at honoring the memory of Adam Holten and raising awareness about suicide prevention. With suicide being the second leading cause of death for ages 10-24, this event is vital to fostering community support.
Participants can enjoy an early registration fee of $30 for those over 18, and $25 for those under 18, with prices increasing as the race date approaches. All participants will receive a unique finisher medal shaped like a honeycomb, symbolizing community and connection, as well as a race T-shirt (guaranteed through March 15th). The awards ceremony will take place at 10:00 AM following the race, recognizing overall and age group winners in the 5K run and walk. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available, allowing you to participate from anywhere between March 22nd and 29th. Join us on SUNDAY, MARCH 29TH, 2026 for the 7TH ANNUAL STRIDES FOR ADAM 5k run, walk and 1 mile reflection walk. We are also offering a virtual event for those that are unable to participate in-person.
Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED. On Dec 26, 2018 this unfortunate statistic affected Adam Holten, his family, extended family, friends and the community. We lost a very good person to suicide. Adam affected many peoples lives with his presence, his smile, his laughter, his handshakes and his ability to reach out and lift other people up.
Since his passing we have created a non profit organization: STRIDES FOR ADAM. This is our 7th year hosting a 5K race to continue his legacy of service to others and keep his memory alive.
PRICING:
Early registration is $30 FOR THOSE OVER AGE 18, through March 15th, price goes up to $35 through March 28th. $40 on Race Day (online registration only - no paper registrations).

Groups of 3 or more who register at the same time get $5 off of each registration
RACE SWAG! FINISHER MEDALS AND T-SHIRTS FOR PARTICIPANTS. This years medal is in the shape of a honeycomb, with the race colors of black and yellow. The reason for the race colors, the honeycomb, the 16 bees running with the picture of Adam in the sunlight it all has significance. Adam was 16 when he left us and he was fascinated by bees. We like the symbol of bees because they symbolize a community working together. This race, this event is not just any race, it is done to honor someone that served others. With your support and the support of sponsors and volunteers, we support high school graduates moving on to start their education towards a career in service to others.

5K WALK AWARDS for male and female walkers for 1,2 and 3rd place overall
AWARD CEREMONY WILL BE HELD AT 10:00 AM, FOLLOWING THE RACE

EARLY PACKET PICK UP: Thursday 3/26, Friday 3/27, and Saturday 3/28 at Total Runner (15265 Dix Toledo Rd., Southgate, MI 48195) during normal business hours.
RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP: starting at 7:30 am at the race location, Riverview Community Center, 14300 Library Dr, Riverview, MI 48193
VIRTUAL STRIDES FOR ADAM: If you can't make the race and still want to participate sign up for the virtual race and we will mail out a shirt and medal to you! We will send out packets to you the week of March 30th. Run your virtual race any time from March 22nd to 29th. Cost is the same as the in-person event and includes shipping. _There are no awards for the virtual event, however you can enter your results after your complete your run/walk.
