Join us for an exhilarating day of community spirit and friendly competition at The Memorial Day Mile on Monday, May 26, 2025, in beautiful Columbia City, Whitley. This downhill competitive mile race kicks off with a vibrant start just west of Running Around Screen Printing and takes you along Van Buren Street to the finish line at the Whitley County YMCA. As the race coincides with the Annual Memorial Day Parade, the atmosphere will be electric, making it a perfect outing for families and friends.
Starting at 10:15 AM, participants can pick up their race packets from 8:30 AM on race day, ensuring a smooth and exciting experience. Runners will have the chance to compete for impressive cash prizes totaling $600, with awards for Overall Male and Female winners, Masters categories, and newly introduced Grand Masters (50+) prizes. All finishers will receive a commemorative finisher coin, and indulge in delicious plant-based ice cream from Moo-Over at the finish line. With lots of parking available and a focus on supporting our local veterans, The Memorial Day Mile promises to be a memorable event for everyone involved!

Organiser's Description
Come join us this Memorial Day for a downhill competitive mile that starts downtown Columbia City and finishes at the Whitley County YMCA. The course follows Van Buren Street in a point to point race. The race will kick off the Annual Memorial Day Parade which starts at 10:15AM.
Packet Pick Up will be available starting at 8:30 AM on race day at Running Around Screen Printing located at 227 West Van Buren Street Columbia City, IN 46725.
The Start of the race will be just West of Running Around Screen Printing on Van Buren Street and will run east on Van Buren before finishing by the Whitley Country YMCA. Post race refreshments and awards will be given at the finish line. A local favorite, Moo-Over will be at the finish line handing out delicious and refreshing plant-based ice creme for all finishers.
Parking will be available throughout Columbia City as well as at the finish at the YMCA, we ask that participants refrain from parking along Van Buren Street (Start line/Parade Route).
Awards will be presented to the Overall Male and Female and the Overall Masters Male and Female as well as the 2nd and 3rd place male/female finishers. New for this year overall Grand Masters (50+) Male and Female prize money will be given out.

We will be awarding cash prizes again to our overall winners, this year increasing the prizes to $600 for this breakdown.

All runners will be eligible and overall awards will be based on gun time.
100% of the profits from the race are added into the Veterans Marathon end of the year donation which will go to the local AMVETS post 2919 and Columbia City Fire Department.
