Join us for The Minty Miler, a delightful family-friendly holiday running event taking place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the picturesque town of Jim Thorpe, Carbon County. This one-hour race invites participants to see how far they can run in a scenic 0.87-mile loop around Penn Forest Park, where you'll enjoy a traffic-free course with gentle elevation changes. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to get moving with family and friends, this event is perfect for everyone!
Dress in your favorite holiday-themed attire (though it's not required) and get ready to enjoy an exciting atmosphere filled with cheer. With professional timing provided by Pioneer Timing, the race will kick off promptly at 1 PM. Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to join, with awards for the top male and female finishers, as well as age group awards. Plus, the first 75 registrants will receive a custom Minty Miler mug! Enjoy hot cocoa, snacks, and minty treats at the aid station while supporting a great cause, as a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Jim Thorpe Cross Country Team. THE MINTY MILER IS A FAMILY FRIENDLY HOLIDAY RUNNING PARTY! HOLIDAY THEMED ATTIRE IS NOT REQUIRED, BUT IS ENCOURAGED.
RACE FORMAT: 1 hour, accurately timed race. Run as far as you can in the 1 hour time limit. You must complete all laps for them to count. Any partially completed laps when time runs out will not be counted toward your total. You can stop at any point, but you must check in with the race director if you are stopping before the end of the time limit. The race will start promptly at 1pm and end at 2pm.
*We will have professional timing this year provided by Pioneer Timing!
COURSE: Gravel path around the Penn Forest Park right outside of scenic Jim Thorpe. No traffic to contend with while running! The path is a closed .87 mile loop, with 21 ft of elevation gain/loss per lap.
AID: There will be an aid station at the start/finish line stocked up with water, hot chocolate, snacks, and of course, minty treats.
REGISTRATION/ PACKET PICKUP: Register by December 2 to get a custom minty miler mug! There will be same day registration from 12-1pm, with a custom mug while supplies last.
AWARDS: Top Male and Female awards, as well as male and female age group awards for both runners and walkers. Age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71+
SWAG: A custom minty miler mug to the first 75 to register, age group ornament awards and overall winner awards.
PROCEEDS: A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Jim Thorpe Cross Country Team!
