Event summary
This year's run/walk is not just about fitness; it's a heartfelt celebration of solidarity with the market women and peasant farmers in Limonade, Haiti, who are striving for literacy. As we lace up our shoes, we honor Polidor and the incredible journey of learners in our adult literacy program. The funds raised will help provide essential class supplies and teacher stipends, ensuring that education continues to flourish. Join us to celebrate 22 years of empowering lives through literacy, as we dance, sing, and walk together in support of a noble cause!
Organiser's Description
We will walk and run in solidarity with all the market women and peasant farmers in Limonade who, like Polidor, are struggling to become literate.
At Carnival time, participants in our literacy program undertake a cross country walk. They celebrate literacy, recruit more learners, and dance and sing through rural communities. Ours will be a companion event to help raise funds for basic class supplies and teacher stipends.
ALFA, an extensive adult literacy program, is a project of Friends of Haiti at St. Bartholomew Parish, in partnership with the parishes of St. Anne & St. Isidore in Limonade. This year, we celebrate 22 years of literacy in Limonade Haiti and beyond.
