Get ready to lace up your sneakers for the "Using Our Voices" Mental Health Run, taking place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Medford, Suffolk! This inspiring student-led event is part of a series aimed at promoting mental health awareness and wellness across Long Island. With participation from four school districtsβ€”North Babylon, Connetquot, Patchogue-Medford, and Sewanahkaβ€”last year's run attracted over 700 students and raised an impressive $20,000 to support vital counseling opportunities for youth.

The event not only encourages physical activity through engaging race distances, but it also fosters a spirit of community and inclusivity. Students are at the heart of this initiative, leading every aspect from planning to execution, and empowering their peers to take action for mental health. Join us in this celebration of unity, positivity, and student leadership, as we work together to reduce stress and anxiety and promote well-being through movement. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to make a differenceβ€”together, we can amplify our voices for change!

Organiser's Description

The student led "Using Our Voices" Mental Health Run Series was created by Center Moriches & North Babylon Student Leaders as a follow-up to PS I Love You Day. This event is grounded in the belief that students should be part of the change process, with genuine inclusivity achieved through active student engagement. It has now grown to include four districts: North Babylon, Connetquot, and Patchogue-Medford and Sewanahka.

Last year, we raised $20,000 and had over 700 students participatedcompletely free of charge. The funds supported students across Long Island by providing counseling
opportunities and giving them the platform to display leadership, collaborate with peers from other districts, and contribute to an important cause.

The event is designed and executed entirely by students, who are involved in every aspect, from planning to race day logistics. The goal is to share crucial messages about reducing stress and anxiety, building relationships, and supporting mental and physical health through movement. This initiative also empowers students to work toward the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness by fostering civic engagement and community-mindedness.

By supporting this series, you help students across the island unite for a cause that matterspromoting mental health and wellness. All proceeds benefit mental health organizations that work directly with our youth, amplifying the positive impact of this event.

Together, with the help of North Babylon, Connetquot, Patchogue-Medford, and now Sewanahka, we are excited to make this year's event even better! Join us in supporting this one-of-a-kind, student-led event serieswhere students use their voices, have fun, and
build a network of positivity across Long Island.

When kids are empowered, magical things happen!
